Breece Hall led the way on 19 carries for 107 yards, and leading receiver Garrett Wilson had seven catches for 95 yards and a score.
In game two versus the Buffalo Bills, New York wasn’t anywhere near as competitive. The Jets were flummoxed from the very beginning, turning a 20-3 halftime deficit into a 30-10 blowout loss. Tyrod Taylor threw for 56 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-11 passing, and Wilson was again the top receiver with four catches for 50 yards.
Over on the Tampa Bay side, they kicked things off this year with a matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons. The Bucs were ahead 17-16 at the break, then scored another six points from there in a tight win 23-20. Baker Mayfield went 17-of-32 passing for 167 yards and three scores, while also leading the rush on 39 yards from five carries. Emeka Egbuka was tops in the receiving game with four grabs for 67 yards and a pair of scores.
In Monday night’s matchup versus the Texans, Tampa Bay was up 14-10 by halftime. Following a wild fourth quarter that ended up a 9-6 deficit, the Bucs were able to eke out a 20-19 victory on the road. Mayfield was 25-of-38 for 215 yards and a pair of scores this time, while leading the rush was Bucky Irving on 71 yards from 71 totes. Mike Evans logged five catches for 56 yards, and Rachaad White chipped in a rushing touchdown among his 65 yards.

I’ll stay with Tampa Bay. The Bucs posted a gritty road win on Monday, thanks in no small part to the defense. Tampa held Houston to just 266 total yards (182 passing), 12 first downs, a 2-of-9 success rate on third-down tries and 22:51 in time of possession. The offense had their issues but pulling off a victory like that is no small feat.
As for New York, they’re coming off a pretty inept home loss versus their toughest divisional opponent. The Jets were horrendous on offense against the Bills, collecting just 154 total yards (54 passing), 3.3 yards per play, 11 first downs, 21:39 in time of possession and a futile 0-of-11 on third-down tries. Meanwhile the defense gave up 403 yards (224 rushing) and 25 first downs on the other side—with no takeaways. Sure it’s only been two games, but New York looks like the same ol’ team this year. It’s very difficult to trust the Jets to do anything positive these days. In reality, I’ll probably stay away from this one all together. There are lots of better plays out there this weekend.
