Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview
The Jaguars didn’t have the greatest preseason in the world this year, ultimately carving out a 0-2-1 record. Jacksonville opened with a 31-25 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, then managed a 17-17 tie with the New Orleans Saints. Game three was another loss, this time 14-6 to the Miami Dolphins. In that one Jacksonville’s Seth Henigan threw for 77 yards and a pick on 15-of-21 passing, while Ja’Quinden Jackson carried eight times for 47 yards. Austin Trammell led the receivers on three catches for 21 yards.
In their regular-season opener versus the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, the Jags scored 17 points in the second quarter to make the game 20-3. After six more points in the second half Jacksonville had a win 26-10 in the end. QB Trevor Lawrence threw for 178 yards, one TD and one interception on 19-of-31 passing, and Travis Etienne carried 16 times for 143 yards. Brenton Strange was the team’s leading receiver with four catches for 59 yards.
Cincinnati Bengals Betting Preview
Over on the Bengals’ side, they had a pretty middling preseason themselves. Cincinnati lost to the champion Philadelphia Eagles 34-27 in the exhibition opener, but then powered out a 31-17 win over the Commanders in game two. The finale was a 41-14 blowout loss to the Indianapolis Colts, however. In that game the Bengals’ Desmond Ridder was 8-of-20 for 75 yards and an interception, while Kendall Milton carried eight times for 72 yards. Leading the receivers in the loss was Isaiah Williams with three catches for 33 yards.
Matched up against the Cleveland Browns last weekend, the Bengals held a 14-10 edge by halftime. Cincinnati could only muster a field goal from there, but that was enough in a tight 17-16 win. QB Joe Burrow was 14-of-23 for 113 yards and a touchdown. Chase Brown carried 21 times for 43 yards, and Tee Higgins caught three balls for 33 yards. Noah Fant had the touchdown catch as part of his four grabs for 26 yards.

Jaguars vs Bengals Prediction
I might take a stab on the Jaguars here. Jacksonville didn’t look too bad in their Week 1 win (even though it was at home against the Panthers) but there are several things to clean up—namely the 11 penalties for 93 yards and the spotty 5-of-13 rate on third-down tries. The Jaguars’ defense came up with a trio of takeaways (two picks) and held Carolina to just 255 yards (142 passing) overall. The Jags’ 200 rushing yards did the rest.
As for the Bengals, they notched an ugly offensive day with 141 total yards (95 passing), 11 first downs and a putrid 2.9 yards per play. Cincinnati’s defense really helped the cause, giving up 327 yards (49 rushing) and 22 first downs with a couple of interceptions. The Bengals are certainly a better offense than that—they’ve got too many big-name players on the roster not to be. I like a better offensive effort in Week 2 (it couldn’t get a whole lot worse) but I think the Jags can stay close enough for a cover if they play well on the road.
