Detroit Lions Betting Preview

Detroit took a 3-1 record into their (early) bye week, falling to only the Buccaneers in that time. The Lions would beat the Cowboys, Vikings, Titans, Packers, Texans, Jaguars, Colts, Bears, and Packers again in the next nine games.

Last weekend versus Buffalo, Detroit took their second loss of the year. The Lions were down 35-21 by the fourth quarter and eventually fell 48-42. Jared Goff threw for 494 yards and five scores, while Amon-Ra St. Brown led the receivers on 14 catches for 193 yards and a touchdown.

Chicago Bears Betting Preview

Over on the Bears’ side, they went into their bye week with a pretty solid 4-2 run through six games. Chicago would fall to the Commanders, Cardinals, Patriots, Packers, Vikings, Lions, and 49ers over the next seven outings, however.

Matched up against the Vikings on Monday, the Bears took a 13-0 deficit into the second half. Chicago gave up another 17 points from there in a 30-12 loss. QB Caleb Williams threw for 191 yards and a TD. Leading receiver Keenan Allen caught the score among six receptions for 82 yards.

Detroit Lions vs Chicago Bears Prediction

I’ll lean toward the Lions. Detroit took a tough loss to a surging Bills team in a shootout last weekend. The “lion’s” share of the yardage came via the pass—473 of 521 yards—as Detroit was playing catchup most of the game. The defense gave up a whopping 559 yards (362 passing) to a great Bills squad. That makes a combined 79 points surrendered by the defense in the last pair.

The last time these teams met up wasn’t that long ago: a 23-20 home win for Detroit on Thanksgiving. The Lions have scored 76 points across two games since then, however, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see a scoreboard surge here—especially after a tough loss. The Bears being on short rest won’t hurt either. This could be a tricky one for Detroit but I think the cover is theirs if all goes well.

Andrew’s Pick Detroit Lions -6.5
