Cardinals Offense Impressed
The Cardinals' offense impressed in the first game of the season scoring 28 points against the Buffalo Bills, but the defense gave up 34 points and that led to the six-point victory. At halftime, they were up 17-10 but in the second half the defense couldn’t make the stops and that led to the defeat. Kyler Murray completed 21 of his 31 passes for 162 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. He also finished with five carries for 57 yards. Greg Dortch was the top receiver finishing with six carries for 47 yards. Rookie MIchael Harrison Jr only had one reception for four yards, and they are going to need more offensive production from their rookie.
The defense struggled to slow down Josh Allen and the running game, and in this game, they are going to need to be better. If the defense struggles in this game, it could be a very long game.
Why the Cardinals Will Beat the Rams
- The Cardinals have won five of their last six Week 2 home games against NFC opponents.
- The Rams have lost four of their last five away games against opponents on a losing streak.
- The Rams have failed to cover the spread in each of their last five games before a Division game.
- The favorites have covered the spread in six of the Rams' last seven games at State Farm Stadium.
- The favorites have won the first half in each of the Rams' last six games.
- The Rams have lost the first quarter in three of their last four games at State Farm Stadium.
Rams Fell Just Short
The Rams were competitive on Sunday night football against the Detroit Lions but they ended up falling short in overtime. Matthew Stafford had a strong game completing 34 of his 49 passes for 317 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Kyren Williams also finished with 18 carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. The wide receivers for the Rams are not fair and Cooper Kupp finished with 14 catches for 110 yards and a touchdown. One surprise was the lack of touches for Blake Corum who man believed would cut into the carries for Williams.
On defense, the Rams struggled to stop the run, especially late, and in this game, they are going to need to find a way to change that. As the game goes on they can’t get worn down and let the Cardinals just run it down their throat.
LA Rams vs Arizona Cardinals Prediction
49 is a high total, but don’t let that fool you, there is going to be way more scoring than that. Matthew Stafford looked really good on Sunday night and he’s going to have no issues against a Cardinals defense that I don’t trust. Kyler Murray is going to have a strong game here also and he’s going to put on a show. This is a game where both teams can go over 30 points and it wouldn’t be all that shocking. Back the over to cash here.
