Concern with the Bears and Caleb Williams?
The Bears somehow came away with a win over the Tennessee Titans, but first-overall pick Caleb Williams still didn’t look great. Williams ended up completing 14 of his 29 passes for 93 yards. He also had five rushes for 15 yards. It was only his first NFL start so there are going to be growing pains, but if the Bears wouldn’t have won it’s all that would have been talked about. The special teams and defense were important in the first game and were the only reason they were able to secure the 24-17 victory. They allowed Will Levis to only complete 19 of his 32 passes for 127 yards but they did pick him off twice.
A couple of things need to happen for the Bears. They need Caleb Williams to play well again in this game and they are going to need the defense to make some plays again. I am not sure I trust Williams to lead the Bears to some success if it’s a high-scoring game.
Why the Bears Will Beat the Texans
- The Texans have lost four of their last five September games as home favorites.
- The Bears have won each of their last four games against AFC South opponents on a winning streak.
- The Texans have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last eight games as home favorites against NFC opponents.
- The road team has covered the spread in each of the Texans' last five Week 2 games.
- The Texans have lost the first half in each of their last five September home games against NFC opponents.
- The Bears have won the first quarter in three of their last four September games as road underdogs.
Texans Pulled out Key Victory
The Texans had a divisional game to start the season against the Indianapolis Colts and they were able to secure the 29-27 victory. The Texans scored 14 points in the 4th quarter and that was enough for the victory. CJ Stroud had a strong game completing 24 of his 42 passes for 324 yards and two touchdowns. Joe Mixon was a perfect addition to this team and he finished with 30 carries for 159 yards and a touchdown. Nico Collins also caught six passes for 117 yards. Stefon Diggs also caught six passes for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
The defense gave up too many big plays to the Colts and in this game, they are going to need to limit that. They can’t let Williams get comfortable under center. They need to try and put pressure on him and make him uncomfortable. The Texans will face the Vikings following this game.
Chicago Bears vs Houston Texans Prediction
Caleb Williams struggled in the first game but the first NFL game is behind him, and he’s going to bounce back in a big way here. The Texans defense was a problem in the first game and it’s going to be a problem again here. The Bears offense is going to have no issue getting out to the fast start. The Texans are going to have no answer and the Bears are going to keep this game close. Back the Bears to cover the spread. I am also throwing a few dollars on the Bears to pull out the victory.
