The Tennessee Titans and the Chicago Bears meet in week 1 NFL action from Soldier Field on Sunday afternoon. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Tennessee Titans vs. Chicago Bears prediction.
Tennessee Titans Team Preview
The Tennessee Titans come into the 2024 season looking to shake off a disappointing season, finishing the year 6-11 overall, missing the playoffs for the second straight year, and finishing with their fewest wins since the 2015 season. The Titans decided it was time for a new voice on the sidelines, firing Mike Vrabel and bringing in Cincinnati Bengals OC Brian Callahan as their new head coach, giving Callahan his first head coaching gig. This will also be the first season since 2016 where Derrick Henry was not a Tennessee Titan.
Will Levis took over the reins for the Titans offense from Ryan Tannehill midway through last year and it looks like Levis has the keys to the car this year. The Titans went out to get Levis some weapons, adding Calvin Ridley to line up alongside Deandre Hopkins while also adding Tony Pollard in the Tennessee backfield alongside Tyjae Spears. On defense, Kenneth Murray and Ernest Jones were brought in to shore up the linebackers and anchor the Tennessee defense.
Why the Tennessee Titans will win
- The underdogs have won four of the Bears' last five Week 1 games.
- The Bears have lost each of their last three Week 1 games as home favorites.
- The underdogs have covered the spread in each of the Titans' last seven Week 1 games.
- The Bears have failed to cover the spread in each of their last five games in September.
Chicago Bears Team Preview
The Chicago Bears enter the 2024 season entering a new era in their history after finishing 2023 with a record of 7-10, but their trade with Carolina the season before, where Bryce Young was the apple of Carolina’s eye, resulted in the Bears getting the first overall pick, which was used to select Caleb Williams. Rome Odunze was also selected in the top 10 to give the Bears quite the pair to build around as they try to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2020 and for the first time under Matt Eberflus.
With the addition of Williams, Justin Fields was deemed expendable and was traded. Keenan Allen was brought over from the Chargers and the addition of DJ Moore gives the Bears quite the aerial attack and the pairing of Khalil Herbert and D’Andre Swift with a side of Roschon Johnson gives the Bears quite the skill set offensively. On defense, Tremain Edmunds, T.J. Edward, and Jack Sanborn are all back to lead Chicago’s front seven while Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson are back in the Bears’ secondary. Montez Sweat will hope to keep the pressure up on the line for the Bears as well.
Why the Chicago Bears will win
- The Titans have lost each of their last nine Sunday road games.
- The home team has won 10 of the Bears' last 11 games.
- The Titans have failed to cover the spread in seven of their last eight Sunday road games.
- The home team has covered the spread in each of the Bears' last five games.
Tennessee Titans vs. Chicago Bears Prediction
I’m on the Titans here. I’m just not ready to buy into the Bears hype just yet, and it feels like a lot of people are going to be backing the Bears with the excitement going on in the Windy City. That being said, Tennessee still has some solid pieces and Levis was really solid to close out the year in 2023 and is on his way to being one of the better quarterbacks in the league in my opinion. I’ll take the points with Tennessee in what I see being a field goal game either way.
Chris’s Pick Tennessee +4.5
