Spain and China meet Sunday in the 2024 Summer Olympics at Pierre Mauroy Stadium. Here’s a Spain vs China Prediction. This article will include a Spain vs China Pick.

Spain Betting Preview

Spain is in its third straight Olympics on the women’s basketball side, and they finished sixth in Tokyo while winning a silver medal in Brazil. Team Spain will be coached by Miguel Mendez, and this roster includes one WNBA player in Megan Gustafson, who was the 2019 AP Player Of the Year at Iowa. Spain is a very experienced team that has a lot of international games under its belt as there’s no player on this roster under the age of 26. Alba Torrens is the most decorated Spaniard, given she’s a six-time EuroLeague champion and a seven-time Russian League champion. Leticia Romero was a star for Kansas State and Florida State back in the day, while Laura Gil is a four-time Spanish League champion. Most of these Spaniards have participated in international play since the youth games, so this moment shouldn’t be too big for them.

China Betting Preview

China is in its sixth straight Olympics in women’s basketball and finished fifth in Japan. China hasn’t won a medal since 1992 when it snagged a silver medal. China is coached by Zheng Wei, who is a two-time WCBA champion. Women’s basketball has improved in China over the years, and Han Xu is one of the young bright stars, as she played with the New York Liberty for a few years and is a two-time WCBA MVP. Li Yueru has played 22 games for the LA Sparks this season and has a couple of starts. Yang Shuyu won a bronze medal in the 2020 Olympics in 3×3 basketball, and Li Meng was on the 2023 WNBA All-Rookie Team as a member of the Washington Mystics. Team China has a lot of underrated talent and could be a surprise on the women’s side.

Spain vs China Prediction

China has spoiler potential where it could spring an upset, as there is talent on this roster and the basketball scene has improved over the years. However, Spain is extremely experienced with a roster of women who have been in these situations time and time again. Spain has the talent and experience to where I’m sure they’re thinking about leaving Paris with a medal. If that’s the case, this isn’t a game they can blow. I’ll lean on the experience of the Spaniards and lay the chalk.

Randy Chambers's Pick: Spain -8
