The Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns meet Wednesday in NBA action at the Mortgage Matchup Center. Here’s a Sacramento Kings vs Phoenix Suns Prediction. This article will include a Sacramento Kings vs Phoenix Suns Pick.
The Sacramento Kings won 40 games last year and have made the playoffs once since 2006. This will be the first full season under coach Doug Christie.
It’s fair to question what the Kings are doing, and that’s something you could have asked for the last two decades. The Kings tried to recreate the Bulls by pairing DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, and it hasn’t quite worked. Shocker. Dennis Schroder and Russell Westbrook are an interesting duo at point guard. Domantas Sabonis is a solid big and Malik Monk is coming off a strong season, but the roster overall is just weird. I don’t have much trust in the Kings and kind of expect things to get blown up at some point in the season. It’s just all strange.
The Phoenix Suns won 36 games last year and ended a streak of 4 straight playoff trips. The Suns now begin the Jordan Ott era.
The Suns moved Kevin Durant, which leaves Devin Booker on an island yet again. Jalen Green has upside, and I’m sure the goal is for him to blossom into a high scoring running mate with Booker. Dillon Brooks brings defense and outside shooting, while Ryan Dunn should be able to build on a solid rookie year. The Suns need Grayson Allen to return to form. Mark Williams is an underrated center who would e on the Lakers right now if he didn’t fail his physical. Still, this roster is a far cry from the big three that was Booker, Beal, and Durant. At almost 29 years old, it’s depressing to see Booker on these rosters that don’t inspire much hope.
The Suns will be without Jalen Green due to a hamstring injury.
The Kings will be without Isaac Jones, Domantas Sabonis, and Keegan Murray.
I know I bashed the Kings and this isn’t a team I’m going to back a ton this season, but it’s fair to question if the Suns are good themselves. The Kings may be dysfunctional from top to bottom, but they have a bunch of veterans who are capable of stealing games if you let them. It feels like Booker is on an island again, and it could get depressing if others don’t step up to help. Nothing would surprise me in this game, but this is a winnable spot for the Kings. I’ll cover my eyes and grab the bucket with the road team.
