The New York Knicks have been on a tear as they were riding a season-high eight game win streak before they got stopped in their tracks by the Pistons in a 118-80 loss on Friday. Mikal Bridges led the team with 19 points, Jalen Brunson scored just 12 points while Jordan Clarkson chipped in with 11 points off the bench but no other player scored more than six points. As a team, the Knicks shot a miserly 35 percent from the field and eight of 33 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and scored just 42 points in the first half to trailed by 21 points at halftime and things didn’t get much better in the second half where they got outscored by 55-40 to suffer one of their worst defeats of the season. Jalen Brunson just couldn’t get going all night as he shot just four of 20 from the field and zero of eight from the 3-point line.

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in great shape as they are looking to build on their current five-game win streak after outlasting the Heat in a 98-96 win on Friday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 29 points on 11 of 25 shooting, Payton Pritchard added 24 points off the bench while Derrick White chipped in with 21 points, five assists and four blocks. As a team, the Celtics shot 42 percent from the field and 10 of 36 from the 3-point line as they really struggled to make their shots early on and scored just 38 points in the first half to trail by as many as 22 points, but they regrouped and stormed back into the contest before they stole the lead and the game on a clutch 3-pointer from White with 1:31 left on the clock.

The Knicks have ruled out Miles McBride and they are keeping an eye on Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns who are all questionable, while the Celtics are still missing Jayson Tatum with Sam Hauser listed as questionable. The Knicks were on fire before they ran into the Pistons in a tough loss on Friday, but the Celtics are also coming into this contest with plenty of winning momentum and they would’ve taken so much confidence from their massive comeback win in their last outing. These teams have already met twice this season with each team winning at home and I think that trend continues here with the Celtics earning a narrow in and cover at home.
