The Brooklyn Nets travel to Madison Square Garden to battle the New York Knicks on Monday night.
Brooklyn Nets Betting Preview
The Brooklyn Nets started their season with five poor defeats in a row, but they will be feeling much better after outlasting the Pacers in a hard-fought 98-90 road win last night. Michael Porter Jr led the team with 23 points and nine rebounds, Julius Randle added 20 points with five rebounds and six assists, Nolan Traore scored 16 points with six assists while Day’Ron Sharpe chipped in with 15 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Nets shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line, but they were good enough to take the early lead and did just enough to stay a step in front of the Pacers until the final buzzer.
New York Knicks Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks looked like they were about to get on a roll after they grabbed two wins in a row, but then they ran into the 76ers who beat them by 98-93 road defeat on Friday. Jalen Brunson led the team with 24 points, five rebounds and six assists, Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points with 12 rebounds while Mikal Bridges chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and three steals. As a team, the Knicks shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 41 from the 3-point line as they fought hard all game to claw their way back from a 14-point deficit to take the lead late in the fourth quarter, only to get outscored by 9-3 in the final 1:10 to allow the 76ers off the hook.
Brooklyn v New York Free Prediction
The Nets are still missing Egor Demin but they could have Mikel Brown Jr back in action, while the Knicks are keeping an eye on Jose Alverado who has been upgraded to questionable for this one. The Nets were finally able to get the monkey off their back with a hard fought win over the struggling Pacers last night, but now they are up against their old rivals who were starting to heat up before a tough loss to the 76ers. The Nets are playing their second game of a back to back set, while the Knicks haven’t played since Friday, so the hefty line is justified for this matchup. It’s tempting to take the Knicks to win in a blowout, but we are still early in the season, so I will take the points with the Nets.
