The Houston Rockets have been on a tear as they are now looking to build on their five-game win streak after blowing past the Grizzlies in a 124-109 road win on Wednesday. Amen Thompson led the team in scoring with 28 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, Alperen Sengun added 20 points with 16 rebounds and seven assists while Jabari Smith Jr chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Rockets shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 30 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 34 points in the first quarter to take an early double-digit lead which was more than enough to hold off the depleted Grizzlies despite Kevin Durant finishing with just 11 points on five of 18 shooting.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs seem to have cooled off from their five-game win streak as they are now hoping to avoid a third straight loss after falling painfully short to the Lakers in a 118-116 road loss on Wednesday. Victor Wembenyama led the team with 19 points and eight rebounds, Stephon Castle and Jeremy Sochan each scored 16 points while Devin Vassell chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Spurs shot 48 percent from the field and 13 of 33 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control when they poured in 37 points in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead, only to get run down in the fourth quarter as they scored just 10 points in the final 7:21 of the game.

The Rockets have again ruled out Dorian Finney-Smith and they are keeping an eye on Steven Adams who is questionable for this one, while the Spurs have ruled out De’Aaron Fox with Jeremy Sochan and Kelly Olynyk both listed as questionable. The Rockets have been one of the hottest teams in the league lately and they must be full of confidence after smashing the Grizzlies on Wednesday for their fifth straight win. In contrast, the Spurs are coming into this one fresh off a tough loss to the Lakers as they couldn’t get over the line without Wembenyama having a monster game. You could make an argument for either side, but the Rockets are the team with the momentum and I think they get the job done at the short line in this one.
