The Houston Rockets have cooled off recently as they’ve dropped four of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after falling just short to the Timberwolves in a 110-108 overtime road defeat on Wednesday. Kevin Durant led the team with 30 points and eight assists, Alperen Sengun added 30 points with six rebounds and four blocks while Jabari Smith Jr chipped in with 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a team, the Rockets shot 41 percent from the field and nine of 29 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in full control after opening the overtime period with a 13-0 run, but that still wasn’t enough to get the job done as the Timberwolves responded with a 15-0 run to snatch the game away in a wild finish.

Meanwhile, the Memphis Grizzlies have been doing it tough as they’ve lost 12 of their last 13 games overall and they will be hoping to halt a four-game slide after getting trampled by the Spurs in a 123-98 loss on Wednesday. GG Jackson led the team with 20 points, Olivier-Maxence Prosper added 17 points while Dejon Jarreau chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Grizzlies shot 40 percent from the field and 16 of 50 from the 3-point line as they struggled to contain the Spurs from the start and got outscored by 38-19 in a nightmare of a first quarter and things only got worse in the third quarter where they leaked 41 points to trail by as many as 39 points at one stage. Taylor Hendricks had a quiet game of just two points on one of seven shooting while Cam Spencer scored just one point on zero of six shooting.

The Rockets are still missing Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams, while the Grizzlies have ruled out Ty Jerome, Jaylen Wells, Zach Edey, Ja Morant and Brandon Clarke to name a few. These teams have already butted heads twice this season with the Rockets winning on both occasions and it’s hard to picture anything but another win for the Rockets especially following their stunning overtime defeat to the Timberwolves. The Rockets open as heavy road favorites and I feel it’s totally warranted given the long list of injuries that has the Grizzlies handicapped. I expect the Rockets to start strong and fly their way to a comfortable win and cover.
