The Detroit Pistons invade the Toyota Center to take on the Houston Rockets on Friday night.
Detroit Pistons Betting Preview
The Detroit Pistons will be hoping to avoid a second straight loss after coming up just short to the Bulls in a disappointing 115-111 road defeat on Wednesday night. Cade Cunningham led the team with 23 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists on eight of 24 shooting, Isaiah Stewart added 20 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks off the bench, Ronald Holland scored 19 points in 27 minutes, Jalen Duren scored 15 points in 20 minutes of action while Ausar Thompson tallied 11 points with nine rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 44 percent from the field and seven of 24 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and had to claw their way back from an early 23-point deficit, only to go cold and score just two points in the final 1:46 to allow the Bulls off the hook in a disappointing finish. Caris LeVert had a quiet game of just eight points off the bench while the newly acquired Duncan Robinson finished with just two points on one of seven shooting.
Houston Rockets Betting Preview
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets will have mixed emotions coming into this one as they fell painfully short to the Thunder in a heartbreaking 125-124 double overtime loss on Tuesday. Alperen Sengun led the team in scoring with 39 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists on 12 of 24 shooting, Kevin Durant added 23 points with nine rebounds and three assists Amen Thompson scored 18 points with five assists while Jabari Smith Jr chipped in with 16 points. As a team, the Rocket shot 44 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they stifled the defending champs early on with their tall starting lineup, but in a finish that could’ve gone either way, it was the Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who drained the game-winning free throws with just 2.3 seconds left in the second overtime period. The Rockets will be a little disappointed that they couldn’t get more support from their bench who combined for just 24 points, but there was a lot to like about their unorthodox starting lineup that didn’t feature a true point guard.
Detroit v Houston Free Prediction
The Pistons are still missing a couple players with Jaden Ivey and Marcus Sasser both out, while the Rockets have ruled out Fred VanVleet and they are still keeping eyes on Isaiah Crawford and Jae’Sean Tate who are both questionable. Both teams are coming into this one fresh off defeats, but at the moment there is more to like about the Rockets who were really impressive in their narrow defeat to the defending champs in their season opener. We saw the Rockets’ extra tall starting lineup work pretty well on Tuesday and I think they can build on that with a better result in this matchup. It wouldn’t be a shock if the Pistons were able to pull off the upset on the road, but I like what I saw from the Rockets and I think they earn their first win of the season in this spot behind a big game from Durant.
