The Atlanta Hawks have been in great form as they’ve won nine of their last 12 games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after outlasting the 76ers in a 142-134 double overtime win last night. Jalen Johnson led the team with 41 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists on 10 of 21 shooting, Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 34 points with eight rebounds and seven assists, Dyson Daniels tallied 17 points with nine rebounds and eight assists while Onyeka Okongwu chipped in with 10 points, 13 rebounds and six assists. As a team, the Hawks shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 45 from the 3-point line as they battled with the 76ers in a tight contest that remained within single digits all the way until the second overtime period where the Hawks closed the final 2:25 on a 10-2 run to escape with the dramatic road win.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Pistons have been on fire to start the season as they’ve won 16 of their first 20 games and they will be eager to build some momentum after snapping a two-game skid with a 138-135 road win over the Heat on Saturday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 29 points and eight assists on 14 of 25 shooting, Tobias Harris added 26 points on 10 of 12 shooting while Duncan Robinson chipped in with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Pistons shot a sizzling 59 percent from the field and 11 of 26 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running with 71 points in the first half to take an early 22-point lead before they survived a late rally from the Heat who exploded for 44 points in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to just two points with 40.5 seconds left on the clock.

The Hawks are still missing Kristaps Porzingis and Trae Young, while the Pistons should have Caris LeVert in the lineup but they are keeping an eye on Duncan Robinson who is questionable with an ankle sprain. The Hawks are certainly tempting with the handful of points as they’ve quietly been one of the form teams in the league, but it’s a tough ask to play on zero days rest following a double overtime game. The Pistons were lucky to escape with a narrow win over the Heat in their last outing, but they’ve been in terrific form and I think they can take down this shorthanded Hawks squad.
