The Boston Celtics play host to the streaking Atlanta Hawks at the TD Garden on Friday night.

Atlanta Hawks Betting Preview

The Atlanta Hawks have been on fire as they’ve won 14 of their last 15 games overall and they will be gunning for a fourth straight victory after outlasting the Pistons in a 130-129 overtime road win on Wednesday. Jalen Johnson led the team with 27 points, eight rebounds and 12 assists on nine of 18 shooting, CJ McCollum added 27 points with five assists while Nickeil Alexander-Walker chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Hawks shot 48 percent from the field and 18 of 52 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in trouble after they squandered an early 21-point lead, but they made up for it in overtime where they hung on for the narrowest of wins thanks to the Pistons missing two shots in the final 2.9 seconds.

Boston Celtics Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics have been in great form as they’ve won five of their last six games overall and they will be eager to keep it going after beating the Thunder in a thrilling 119-109 win on Wednesday. Jaylen Brown led the team with 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, Jayson Tatum added 19 points with 12 rebounds and seven assists while Payton Pritchard chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Celtics shot 47 percent from the field and 18 of 41 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going on offense and scored just 20 points in the first quarter to trail by 13 points, but they chipped away at the deficit and caught fire with 70 points in the second half to run past the Thunder and claim the statement win at home.

Atlanta v Boston Free Prediction

The Hawks don’t have any players listed on their injury report, while the Celtics have ruled out Nikola Vucevic with Jaylen Brown and Derrick White both listed as day to day. These teams have already met twice in January with each team snagging a win on the road and both teams have been on fire lately, so we should be in for a good one. The Hawks are clearly playing their best basketball of the season and they have a fully healthy roster, but the Celtics have been on a nice run themselves and they will surely be brimming with confidence following their win over the Thunder on Wednesday. It’s hard to split these two teams right now but while it’s tempting to take the Hawks in an upset, I prefer a play on the more reliable Celtics to earn the win and cover at the short line.

Peter Tran's Pick: Boston -4.5
