The San Antonio Spurs have been in decent form as they've won four of their last seven games overall, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up just short to the Knicks in a 117-114 road defeat on Wednesday. Victor Wembenyama led the team with 42 points, 18 rebounds, and four assists, Jeremy Sochan added 21 points with nine rebounds and Chris Paul chipped in with 13 points and seven assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 50 percent from the field and 16 of 38 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Knicks in the second quarter to lead for most of the contest, until late in the fourth quarter when the Knicks went on a pivotal 20-9 run to steal the game at the end. 

Brooklyn Nets 

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets have been struggling as they've lost eight of their last 11 games overall, but they will be looking to build some momentum after sneaking past the Bucks in a 111-105 road win last night. Cameron Johnson led the team with 29 points on eight of 13 shooting, Noah Clowney drained six 3-pointers to finish with 20 points, Shake Milton scored 20 points off the bench while Nic Claxton chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Nets shot 47 percent from the field and 16 of 38 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Bucks and fell into a 13-point deficit before they closed the final 4:52 on a 19-8 run to escape with the impressive comeback win on the road. The Nets will meet the Magic, Raptors, Bucks, 76ers, and Pacers after this game.

The Spurs don't have a single player listed on the injury report, while the Nets are still missing Cam Thomas and Dorian Finney-Smith. The Spurs were on a nice run before they dropped their last two games, but they were more than competitive in their tough loss to the surging Knicks on Christmas Day. In contrast, the Nets were ice-cold before they took down the Bucks in a major upset road win last night, so this one is tough to pick. It's tempting to take the Nets at home, but the Nets are playing on zero days rest, so I am more comfortable going with the Spurs to bounce back with a much-needed road win in this spot.
