Detroit Pistons vs Philadelphia 76ers Prediction NBA Picks 10/30/24

The Detroit Pistons have endured a rough start to the season and they are now hoping to avoid a fifth straight defeat after getting beaten by the Heat in a 106-98 road loss on Monday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds, and six assists on nine of 18 shooting, Tim Hardaway Jr added 20 points, Jaden Ivey scored 18 points while Jalen Duren chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks. As a team, the Pistons shot just 38 percent from the field and 14 of 38 from the 3-point line as they dominated the third quarter by 26-14 to overcome an early 13-point deficit, only to go cold and score just 19 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Heat off the hook in the end. 

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers will be feeling much better after snapping a two-game skid with a gritty 118-114 overtime win at Indiana on Sunday. Tyrese Maxey led the team with 45 points and four assists, Caleb Martin added 17 points with 12 rebounds while Eric Gordon chipped in with 15 points on five of 10 shooting off the bench. As a team, the 76ers shot just 42 percent from the field and 11 of 42 from the 3-point line as they squandered a chance to seal the game at the end of the fourth quarter, but they played great defense to limit the Pacers to just nine points in overtime and come away with the much-needed victory despite missing some key players.

The Pistons are still shorthanded with Ausar Thompson still ruled out, while the 76ers are still missing Joel Embiid and Paul George. The Pistons have yet to win a game this season, but to be fair, their first four games were against decent competition in the Pacers, Cavaliers, Celtics, and Miami. The 76ers have been hit hard by injuries to start the season, but they will be hoping that their gritty overtime win over the Pacers can help kickstart their season. The Pistons haven’t been as bad as their record suggests, so I wouldn’t be at all shocked if they were to pull off the upset here, but the shorthanded 76ers are coming off their best game of the season so far, they are playing at home and haven’t seen the court since Sunday. The line is short enough, so I will stick with the 76ers to get the win and cover here.
