The Atlanta Hawks pay a visit to the Indiana Pacers at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday night.
The Atlanta Hawks have been in fine form as they were riding a seven-game win streak before getting stopped in their tracks by the Knicks in a 99-90 home loss on Saturday. Trae Young led the team with 33 points and seven assists on 10 of 22 shooting, Clint Capela added 16 points with 21 rebounds and three blocks while John Collins chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Hawks shot just 35 percent from the field and nine of 37 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early nine-point deficit to lead by six points in the third quarter, only to see their hard work go to waste in the fourth quarter where they managed just 16 points. Kevin Huerter scored just eight points on four of 13 shooting while Danilo Gallinari scored just five points on two of 11 shooting off the bench.
Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers have been in rough shape as they’ve lost six of their past nine games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting stopped by the Timberwolves in a 100-98 road loss on Monday. Malcolm Brogdon led the team with 25 points and five assists, Domantas Sabonis racked up a triple-double of 16 points with 25 rebounds and 10 assists while Justin Holiday chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 39 percent from the field and nine of 35 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after taking a 12-point lead in the second quarter, before watching the lead disappear in the third quarter where they managed just 19 points. Caris LeVert had a night to forget as he finished with just nine points on three of 14 shooting from the field and one of seven from the 3-point line.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hawks are 2-11 ATS in their last 13 road games, 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games playing on three or more days rest and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Pacers are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 home games and 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall and the under is 6-2 in the last eight meetings in Indiana.
It’s fair to say that the Hawks are clearly the team in better form in this meeting as they were on a seven-game win streak before losing to the Knicks on Saturday. The Pacers have been in a bit of a rut lately and their confidence took another hit following their two-point loss to the Timberwolves on Monday. Cameron Reddish is a game-time decision for the Hawks, while the Pacers will be sweating on the availability of Myles Turner who is questionable with an illness. The Hawks were on fire before their loss to the Knicks, and they’ve had plenty of time to think about it. This should be a close one, but I'm sticking with the more consistent Hawks to escape with the win in this spot.
