The Toronto Raptors and the Washington Wizards duke it out at the Capital One Arena on Wednesday night.
The Toronto Raptors are starting to pick up steam as they’ve won their last four games and they will be looking to stay hot after upsetting the red-hot Knicks in a 113-104 road win on Monday. OG Anunoby led the team with 36 points on 13 of 27 shooting, Gary Trent Jr. added 26 points on 10 of 22 shooting while Fred VanVleet racked up 17 points with nine rebounds and eight assists. As a team, the Raptors shot 43 percent from the field and 14 of 42 from the 3-point line as they trailed for most of the game before taking over in the third quarter where they outscored the Knicks by 38-22 to take a 15-point lead.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have begun the season in fine form with five wins in their first seven games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after falling just short to the Hawks in a 118-111 road loss on Monday. Bradley Beal led the team in scoring with 24 points on 10 of 21 shooting, Kyle Kuzma added 18 points while Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in with 14 points and 10 assists. As a team, the Wizards shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 39 from the 3-point line as they poured in 37 points in the second quarter to cut an early 17-point deficit to just three points going into halftime, but they managed just 17 points in the third quarter which left them too much ground to make up late.
Looking at the betting trends, the Raptors are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win. The Wizards are 4-0 ATS in their last four home games, 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record and 25-10-1 ATS in their last 36 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall and the Raptors are 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall.
The Raptors are starting to look good after enduring a slow start to the season and they’re starting to look so much more dangerous with Anunoby fresh off a season-high 36 points. The Wizards have hit the ground running this season and have emerged as one of the surprise teams, so I’m expecting them to bounce back with a big effort after falling just short to the Hawks. It’s hard to split between these two squads, but the Raptors are only 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight meetings overall, so I’m taking the Wizards at the short line.
