Shane Burgos and Charles Jourdain face off on Saturday afternoon in a featherweight showdown in the main card of UFC on ABC 3 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. Burgos is ranked 14th while Jourdian is unranked.
Shane Burgos comes into this fight with a 14-3 record overall but he had lost two fights in a row before winning the last fight. Burgos last fight came against Billy Quarantillo in November of 2021 and he landed 193 significant strikes on the way to the victory. Burgos has the nickname Hurricane, and for good reason, because he throws a ton of strikes. Burgos is averaging 7.95 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 6.69 significant strikes per minute. He is averaging 0.24 takedowns every 15 minutes but is successful on 100 percent of his takedown attempts. He also stops 91 percent of his takedown attempts.
On the other side of this matchup is Charles Jourdain who sits with a 13-4-1 record overall and he has won two fights in a row. In Jourdain’s last fight against Lando Varranta in April of 2022 and he locked in a submission win. Jourdain is averaging 5.6 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 4.53 significant strikes per minute. He wants to keep the fight on the feet and doesn’t have a takedown inside the UFC. He also only stops 45 percent of his opponent's takedown attempts. If Burgos decides he wants to get this fight to the ground, Jourdain needs to do everything to prevent that from happening. He is also averaging 0.6 submission attempts every 15 minutes.
This is probably the hardest fight on the entire card to give a solid prediction because it’s such a toss-up. These are both guys who have knockout power, and this fight could finish in 10 seconds or it could go all the way to the final bell. Jourdain does have a little more power, and he also does have a submission game that could come into play here. Jourdian is the underdog and we will take the value with him here.
