The Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays will meet on Thursday afternoon in the final game of a three‑game American League East matchup at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

The Toronto Blue Jays enter Thursday’s contest with a 62–66 overall record (4th in the American League East) and a 29–33 mark on the road. The Blue Jays offense has been inconsistent this season. Toronto has compiled 508 runs scored (28th in MLB), 199 doubles (14th in MLB), a .244 team batting average and 120 home runs which ranks a rather low 28th in Major League Baseball.

The Blue Jays arrive at today’s game in below average form. Toronto has lost two of the team’s last three games played this season, including a 4–3 loss to the New York Yankees four days ago.

Toronto will turn to right hander Shane Bieber in this game. In ten starts made this season, Bieber has compiled a 4–2 win loss record, a 4.99 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP and 37 strikeouts in 108.1 innings pitched. Shane Bieber arrives at this contest in subpar overall form, allowing four earned runs or more in two of his last four starts made in 2026. Bieber will look to rebound from his recent poor performance on the mound in this afternoon’s matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Turning our attention to the Toronto offense, the Blue Jays lineup features Alejandro Kirk and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Alejandro Kirk has compiled a .282 batting average, 7 home runs, 27 RBIs, and a .791 OPS. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has amassed a .263 batting average, 7 home runs, 46 RBIs and an .693 OPS.

Tampa Bay Rays Betting Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays enter Thursday afternoon’s matchup with a 76–50 overall record (1st in the American League East) and a 43–22 mark at home. Tampa Bay has played competitive baseball recently, winning two of the team’s last three games, including a thrilling 7–6 victory over the Baltimore Orioles earlier this week.

Tampa Bay will start left hander Ian Seymour in today’s game. In ten starts made in 2026, Seymour has compiled a 9–3 win loss record, a 4.11 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP and 115 strikeouts in 96.1 innings pitched. Seymour arrives at this contest in good form, allowing two earned runs or fewer in four his last five starts made this season.

The Tampa Bay Rays lineup features Chandler Simpson and Yandy Díaz. Chandler Simpson  enters this contest with a .309 batting average (3rd in MLB), 13 doubles, 26 RBIs, 35 stolen bases and a .702 OPS. Yandy Díaz has compiled a .306 batting average (7th in MLB), 19 home runs, 72 RBIs and an .849 OPS.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win.

 • Offensive potential. Alejandro Kirk and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. continue to anchor the Toronto Blue Jays lineup.

• Starting pitching. Shane Bieber has compiled a 4–2 win loss record, a 4.99 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP across 108.1 innings pitched this season.

• Motivation. The Toronto Blue Jays have lost two of the team’s last three games.

Why the Tampa Bay Rays will win.

• Offensive balance. Chandler Simpson and Yandy Diaz have been key contributors for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2026.

• Starting pitching. In ten starts made in 2026, Ian Seymour has compiled a 9–3 win loss record, a 4.11 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP and 115 strikeouts in 96.1 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Tampa Bay Rays have won two of the team’s last three games.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Tampa Bay Rays Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Tampa Bay Rays. Why? Tampa Bay starting pitcher Ian Seymour arrives at this contest in good form, allowing two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five starts made in 2026. Additionally, the Rays have played exceptional baseball at home this season, compiling a rather impressive 43-22 win-loss record at Tropicana Field. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Tampa Bay Rays on the moneyline in this game.
