A month-by-month look shows a rough start in April (6.26 ERA), followed by a brutal May (9.75 ERA), then a much-improved June with a solid 2.05 ERA across 22 IP. Eduardo has struggled with high-leverage situations; his ERA with runners in scoring position soars into the low-teens, though he’s been sharp with the bases empty (1.96 ERA). Rodriguez is coming off one of his worst starts of the year, giving up 8 earned runs to the Royals, but I like him to bounce back in this one. He’ll be playing in Petco Park, which is one of the more pitcher-friendly ballparks in the league. Soroka has shown glimpses of dominance, including a six-inning, two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts on June 28th. Even if though we’ve seen Soroka get hit up in certain spots, he has been dominant when it comes to a strikeout perspective. He’s recorded 5+ strikeouts in each of his last 6 starts.
