Shota Imanaga has been a reliable contributor to the Cubs’ rotation, posting a 5–2 record with a 2.78 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP over 55.0 innings through his first 10 starts. His ability to limit baserunners and generate whiffs has made him one of the more effective starters in the rotation. Imanaga is coming off one of his more challenging starts of the season, giving up 3 earned runs against Cleveland on 7/2. Before that start, we saw him give up 2 or fewer runs in 5 of his last 6 starts. Imanaga is the type of pitcher I want to back after a rough start. He has a favorable matchup in this one going against the Twins, who’ve been questionable at the plate.
