The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox will meet Sunday afternoon in an American League Central matchup at Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois. Let’s take a look at this matchup from a betting perspective.

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

The Detroit Tigers enter Sunday’s contest with a 73-82 overall record (3rd in the American League Central) and a 34-46 mark on the road. The Tigers offense has been respectable this season. Detroit has compiled 696 runs scored (13th in MLB), 243 doubles, 173 home runs and a .241 team batting average which ranks 20th in Major League Baseball.

The Tigers arrive at tomorrow night’s game in below average form. Detroit has lost three of the team’s last four games played this season, including an 5-1 defeat to the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week.

The Detroit Tigers will turn to right hander Troy Melton in this game. In 19 starts made in 2026, Melton has compiled an 8-4 win-loss record, a 2.52 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP and 90 strikeouts in 110.2 innings pitched. Troy Melton has been inconsistent recently, allowing four earned runs or more in two of his last three starts made this season. Melton will look to bounce back from his recent subpar performances on the mound in tomorrow afternoon’s matchup with the Chicago White Sox.

Shifting our focus to the Detroit offense, the Tigers lineup features catcher Dillon Dingler and outfielder Riley Greene. Dingler has amassed a team leading 27 home runs (25th in MLB), 89 RBIs and a .751 OPS. Greene enters this contest with a .286 batting average (18th in MLB), 21 home runs, 30 doubles, 66 walks and an .856 OPS which ranks 17th in Major League Baseball.

Chicago White Sox Betting Preview

The Chicago White Sox enter Sunday’s contest with a 79-76 overall record (2nd in the American League Central) and a rather impressive 45-32 mark at home. The White Sox have played competitive baseball recently, winning two of the team’s last three games, including a 3-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers two days ago.

The White Sox will start right hander Davis Martin in this contest. In 26 starts made this season, Martin has accumulated a 9-7 win-loss record, a 3.96 ERA, 115 strikeouts and 115 strikeouts in 141 innings pitched. Martin arrives at this contest in elite form, allowing one earned run or less in three of his last four starts made in 2026.

The Chicago White Sox lineup features Miguel Vargas and Tristan Peters. Vargas has tallied 33 home runs (11th in MLB), 88 RBIs, 31 doubles, and an .841 OPS. Tristan Peters has amassed a .272 batting average, 12 home runs, 54 RBIs, 31 doubles, and a .795 OPS.

Why the Detroit Tigers will win.

• Starting pitching. Troy Melton has compiled an 8-4 win-loss record, a 2.52 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP in 2026.

• Enhanced motivation. The Detroit Tigers have lost three of the team’s last four games.

• Offensive leadership. Dillon Dingler has amassed 27 home runs and 89 RBIs this season.

Why the Chicago White Sox will win.

 • Starting pitching. In 26 starts made this season, Davis Martin has accumulated a 9-7 win-loss record, a 3.96 ERA, 115 strikeouts and 115 strikeouts in 141 innings pitched.

• Current form. The Chicago White Sox have won two of the team’s last three games.

• Offensive potential. Miguel Vargas has been a key contributor for the Chicago White Sox in 2026.

Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction

In my opinion, this matchup favors the Chicago White Sox. Why? Chicago hurler Davis Martin arrives at this contest in elite form, allowing one earned run or less in three of his last four starts made in 2026. Conversely, Detroit starting pitcher Troy Melton has been inconsistent recently, allowing four earned runs or more in two of his last three starts made this season. With that said, the White Sox are the correct side to be on in this matchup. I am backing the Chicago White Sox on the moneyline in this game.
