Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview
The Dodgers got off to a very nice start this season, bagging sweeps in sets over the Chicago Cubs, Detroit Tigers, and Atlanta Braves ahead of a loss in a series versus the Phillies. Los Angeles lost two of three to both the Washington Nationals and Cubs, then took a sweep over the Rockies. The Dodgers dispatched the Rangers in a series, fell in two against the Cubs, and then won a series over the Pirates. After a sweep over the Marlins, LA beat the Braves Friday 2-1 and won Saturday 10-3. In the Sunday finale, the Dodgers fell behind early and ended up taking a 4-3 loss.
On Monday, Los Angeles powered out a 7-4 victory. Ben Casparius lasted 4.0 innings with one earned run on five hits and two walks.
For the Tuesday starter gig, the Dodgers are going with Tony Gonsolin. After one appearance this year (a win), Gonsolin has a 4.50 ERA in 6.0 innings of work total. Gonsolin is 35-11 with a 3.21 ERA in 80 games (72 starts) over his career.
Miami Marlins Betting Preview
Over on the Marlins’ side, they beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in their first series of the year before two set losses against the New York Mets, around a split with the Braves. Miami would then take out the Nationals in a set, then fall in a sweep by the Diamondbacks before a series loss to Philly. The Marlins dispatched the Reds in two of three games, then fell in a set versus the Mariners ahead of a sweep by the Dodgers. The Marlins split their first two games with the Oakland A’s over the weekend, then in the Sunday rubber match, Miami couldn’t close it out, finishing with a 3-2 defeat.
In the Monday game, the Marlins were out-hit 13-10 during the defeat. Starter Sandy Alcantara finished with 5.0 innings, five earned, six hits, and a walk.
As a starter for Tuesday, Miami is going with Cal Quantrill. Over six starts so far, Quantrill is 2-3 with an 8.10 ERA in 26.2 innings overall. Quantrill is 45-37 with a 4.21 ERA in 167 career games (129 starts).

Dodgers vs Marlins Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Dodgers, but the line’s too thick to mess with. Some of it is going to depend on what the starters end up doing, anyway. Gonsolin played pretty well in his debut on April 30 (also versus the Marlins), going 6.0 innings with three earned runs on six hits and no walks alongside nine strikeouts for a victory. As for Quantrill, he took the April 30 loss with 3.2 innings, four earned, six hits, and a walk. Over his last three starts combined, Quantrill is 1-2 with 12.2 innings, 15 earned runs, 19 hits, and three walks in some pretty spotty outings.
Los Angeles had a nice offensive outing on Monday during the win with 13 team hits, but did give up 10 on the other side. Still, the pitching staff had things (mostly) under control for the vast majority of the game. LA should be in the same spot on Tuesday.
