St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview
The Cardinals got off to a nice start this year with a sweep over the Minnesota Twins, then lost a set versus the Los Angeles Angels and got swept by the Boston Red Sox. St. Louis lost the next series versus the Pittsburgh Pirates, then finally won a set against Philadelphia. The Cardinals would keep rolling with a set win versus the Houston Astros, then finish on the losing end of a sweep by the Mets before losing a set against the Braves. Following a 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, in the Saturday game, St. Louis took another victory, 6-5. On Sunday in the finale, the Cardinals blew the sweep with a 7-1 loss.
In their series opener versus the Reds on Monday, the Cardinals were out-hit 8-5 in a 3-1 loss. Starting pitcher Andre Pallante gave up all three earned runs in 6.0 innings on six hits and two walks. Nolan Arenado had the lone RBI.
Starter for game two will be St. Louis’ Miles Mikolas. So far, over five games this year, Mikolas is 0-2 with a 5.70 ERA in 23.2 innings total. Mikolas is 64-66 with a 4.19 ERA in 215 career games (187 starts).
Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview
Over on the Reds’ side, they opened up the year with a trio of series losses versus the San Francisco Giants, the Texas Rangers, and the Milwaukee Brewers. Cincinnati won a set in the rematch with the Giants, then took a nice sweep over the Pirates. Following a series loss against the Mariners, the Reds took out Baltimore in a series, then lost to the Marlins in two of three. Cincinnati beat Colorado 8-7 and 6-4 in road matchups on Friday and Saturday. In the Sunday finale, the Reds scored three runs in the first inning along the way to an 8-1 blowout win. Noelvi Marte finished with three RBI and three hits in that one.
Matched up against St. Louis on Monday, Cincinnati got three hits, a run, and an RBI from Gavin Lux. Nick Martinez lasted 6.0 innings in the start with one earned run, five hits, and two walks.
Brady Singer will start the Tuesday game for Cincinnati. This year, Singer is 4-0 with a 3.62 ERA in five starts over 27.1 innings of work. Singer is 40-44 with a 4.26 ERA in 132 career games (129 starts) in the MLB.

Cardinals vs Reds Prediction
I’m leaning toward the Reds here. Cincinnati should be in relatively good hands with Singer on the mound. He’s been pretty decent overall lately—outside of three earned in 4.1 innings on six hits and three walks versus Seattle on April 17, that is. In total over his last three starts, Singer is 2-0 with eight earned runs in 15.1 innings on 12 hits and six walks. Singer will need a bit of a boost from the bats and the pen, but shouldn’t have a ton of issues with the Cardinals hitters if he’s on point.
Cincinnati didn’t have the most dominant offensive outing on Monday, as Lux had three of the team’s eight hits. That said, the pitching staff was pretty great all around and kept St. Louis in check. I like the Reds to keep it going on Tuesday.
