San Diego Padres Betting Preview
The Padres matched up against the Atlanta Braves in the Wild Card Series this week, earning a pair of victories to move on. San Diego posted a 4-0 win Tuesday and a 5-4 victory in game two, both at home. In the Wednesday win, the Padres scored all five of their runs in the second inning on the way to 10 team hits. Kyle Higashioka came away with a solo homer in the victory.
In the starter slot for the Saturday opener, the Padres will send out Dylan Cease. This regular season Cease went 14-11 with a 3.47 ERA in 33 starts. Cease has just two games (one start) in his postseason career, notching a 10.13 ERA in 2.2 innings of work. The winner of this series will take on the Mets or Phillies in the NLCS.

Over on the Dodgers’ side, they had the best record in baseball this year at 98-64. Los Angeles finished three games ahead of the Philadelphia Phillies for the top spot in the league and won the National League West Division by five games over the aforementioned Padres.
LA will trot out Yoshinobu Yamamoto as their Game 1 starter on Saturday. This season Yamamoto posted a 7-2 record with a 3.00 ERA in the first 18 starts of his career. After pitching for just 2.0 innings against the Royals, Yamamoto logged 3+ innings in each of his last four starts.

San Diego Padres vs Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction
I might take a stab at the Padres here. Both starters could use a good outing regardless, though. Cease posted three earned on five hits and three walks against the Dodgers back on September 25 in his most recent outing. That said, Cease was 2-0 with no earned in 14.1 innings over his previous two starts. As for Yamamoto, he’s coming off a win on September 28 with two earned in 5.0 innings at Coors Field. He had four earned in 3.0 innings at home versus the Rockies in the start before that, though.
San Diego had one big inning of output in their Wednesday victory but couldn’t cash in on anything else along the way to a tight win. Still, 15 combined hits and nine runs in two games is pretty good by most metrics. If the Padres can keep the bats going Saturday they should have a great shot at another W.
