The Texas Rangers and the Seattle Mariners meet Friday in MLB action from T-Mobile Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Texas Rangers will send out Jacob deGrom for his season debut here after deGrom went 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 2023. The Seattle Mariners did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.
Texas Rangers Recap
The Texas Rangers come into this one looking to build on their series-opening 5-4 win over Seattle in Thursday’s matchup. The win helped the Rangers start to bounce back from a sweep at the hands of Arizona to start the week.
Rangers Trying To Make One Last Playoff Push
Going into Thursday, Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 139 hits along with 25 doubles, 20 home runs, and 69 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has 22 home runs and 74 RBIs with 25 doubles as well as 11 stolen bases. Jonah Heim has 12 homers and 53 RBIs and Josh Smith also has 27 doubles. Corey Seager also has 30 home runs with 74 RBIs of his own this season. Wyatt Langford also chipped in 21 doubles, a team-high 4 triples, 10 homers, 63 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. Leody Taveras also has a team-high 19 stolen bases as well this season.
Seattle Mariners Recap
The Seattle Mariners will try to rebound from a series-opening loss to the Rangers on Thursday. The loss put the Mariners at an early risk of being unable to build on their split with the Padres from earlier in the week.
Mariners Fighting For Lives In AL Playoff Hunt
Entering Thursday, Julio Rodriguez leads the Mariners with 127 hits including a .258 batting average, and also has 14 doubles. Cal Raleigh has a team-high 30 home runs along with 92 RBIs and 162 strikeouts. Mitch Haniger also has 12 home runs and 44 RBIs while Rodriguez has 21 stolen bases and 136 strikeouts as well this season. Dylan Moore has 22 doubles with 29 stolen bases and Josh Rojas has 19 doubles also this season.
Rangers vs. Mariners Prediction
I’m leaning towards the Rangers here. I don’t love the Rangers bullpen and it wouldn’t surprise me if deGrom was on some sort of pitch count in his debut, but the Rangers for my money have been a lot more trustworthy at the plate side-by-side with Seattle and I just feel like there’s a stronger sense of desperation for the Rangers to have a chance to defend their World Series title. The Mariners have shown some fight lately themselves, but I think for both it’s likely a case of too little, too late. Give me Texas though.
Chris’s Pick Texas -127
