The Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Francisco Giants meet Wednesday in MLB action from Oracle Park. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s an Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Francisco Giants prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Arizona Diamondbacks will send out Zac Gallen for the start here and Gallen is 10-6 with a 3.87 ERA and 118 strikeouts this season. Hayden Birdsong will get the start for the Giants here and is 3-4 with a 5.14 ERA and 60 strikeouts this season.
Arizona Diamondbacks Recap
The Arizona Diamondbacks will come into this one looking to build on their series-opening 8-7 win over the Giants in Tuesday’s matchup. The win puts the Diamondbacks in line to bounce back from back-to-back series losses to the Dodgers and Mets over the last week and a half.
Diamondbacks Trying To Hold On To NL Wild Card Spot
Ketel Marte leads the Diamondbacks with 130 hits in addition to a .298 batting average and 20 doubles with 30 home runs and 81 RBIs while Lourdes Gurriel Jr. also has 17 home runs and 70 RBIs as well this season. Corbin Carroll has a team-high 24 stolen bases, 12 triples, 19 home runs, and 65 RBIs while Eugenio Suarez has 23 home runs, a team-high 86 RBIs, and 146 strikeouts this season. Christian Walker also has 23 home runs with 72 RBIs of his own in addition to 116 strikeouts this season.
Why the Arizona Diamondbacks will win
- The Diamondbacks have won each of their last 10 games against National League opponents that held a losing record.
- The Giants have lost each of their last five night games following a home loss.
- The Diamondbacks have covered the run line in each of their last seven road games following a road win.
- The Giants have failed to cover the run line in four of their last five games after playing the previous day.
San Francisco Giants Recap
The San Francisco Giants come into this one looking to bounce back after falling just short in Tuesday’s matchup, taking the loss. The loss put the Giants at risk of extending their series losing streak with an L here, losing to the Marlins, Brewers, and Mariners over the last two weeks.
Giants Running Out Of Steam
Thairo Estrada has 79 hits along with 9 home runs and 47 RBIs while also chipping in 15 doubles. Michael Conforto has 85 hits with 15 home runs, 24 doubles, and 55 RBIs while Matt Chapman has 126 hits of his own alongside 33 doubles with 22 homers, 69 RBIs, and 13 stolen bases. Chapman also has the dubious distinction of leading the Giants with 141 strikeouts this season. Heliot Ramos has 20 home runs and 67 RBIs as well this year.
Why the San Francisco Giants will win
- The Diamondbacks have lost each of their last six night games against the Giants at Oracle Park following a road win.
- The Giants have won six of their last seven games as home underdogs against the Diamondbacks.
- The Giants have covered the run line in each of their last seven games as home underdogs against the Diamondbacks.
- The Diamondbacks have failed to cover the run line in each of their last five night games against the Giants at Oracle Park following a win.
Diamondbacks vs. Giants Prediction
I’m on the Diamondbacks here. The Giants just look like they’re done, as they’re fading fast in the Wild Card race and the Diamondbacks are one of the teams pulling further and further away from San Francisco. Zac Gallen hasn’t been spectacular on the road, but he’s been good enough in a lot of spots and has one of the hottest offenses in baseball behind him. I’ll roll with the Diamondbacks here.
