The New York Mets and the Chicago White Sox meet Saturday in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a New York Mets vs. Chicago White Sox prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The New York Mets will send out Jose Quintana for the start here and Quintana is 6-9 with a 4.36 ERA and 106 strikeouts this season. In his career, Quintana is 0-2 with a 6.30 ERA and 11 strikeouts against the White Sox. Davis Martin will start for the White Sox here and Martin is 0-2 with a 2.96 ERA and 26 strikeouts this season. This will be Martin’s first career start against the Mets.
New York Mets Recap
The New York Mets come into this one looking to build on a 5-1 win over the White Sox from Friday’s series opener. The win put the Mets in a spot to build on their series win over the Diamondbacks from earlier this week.
Mets Trying To Crash Wild Card Race
Pete Alonso has 29 home runs and 74 RBIs with 29 doubles and Francisco Lindor has 36 doubles of his own with 28 home runs and 79 RBIs along with 25 stolen bases. Brandon Nimmo has 72 RBIs and 133 strikeouts while Lindor has a team-high 149 hits and Harrison Bader has 15 stolen bases as well this season.
Why the New York Mets will win
- The White Sox have lost each of their last 18 home games after playing the previous day.
- The road team has won each of the White Sox's last nine games.
- The White Sox have failed to cover the run line in each of their last eight Saturday games.
- The road team has covered the run line in eight of the last nine games between the Mets and White Sox.
Chicago White Sox Recap
The Chicago White Sox will be looking to rebound from their loss to kick off the series against the Mets in Friday’s opener. The loss pushed the skid to eight games for the White Sox, who have taken series sweep losses against the Tigers and Rangers over the last week.
White Sox Trying To Avoid Worst Record In MLB History
Gavin Sheets has a .240 batting average and a .313 OBP along with 24 doubles and 39 RBIs while Andrew Vaughn has 15 homers and 59 RBIs and Andrew Benintendi has 15 home runs and 48 RBIs with Vaughn logging 28 doubles as well as a team-high 113 hits.
Why the Chicago White Sox will win
- The Mets have lost seven of their last eight games as road favorites against AL Central opponents.
- The White Sox have won three of their last four night games against NL East opponents following a home loss.
- The Mets have failed to cover the run line in each of their last 11 Saturday games as favorites against American League opponents.
- The underdogs have covered the run line in nine of the Mets' last 12 games.
Mets vs. White Sox Prediction
I’m on the under here. Martin has been one of the bright spots that the White Sox still have in this rotation, and while Quintana has had his share of struggles this season and in his career against the White Sox, this year’s edition of the White Sox have been brutal against lefties and have just been poor offensively for the better part of the season as it is. This to me just feels like a game with a lack of offense and as a result, an under that comes in the end. Give me the under here.
