Cincinnati Reds Betting Preview

In their weekend series the Reds took on the Kansas City Royals. Cincinnati lost all three of those games for a sweep. The Reds bounced back with a 6-3 win over the Blue Jays Monday, then in game two Cincinnati tumbled to a 10-3 loss. Carson Spiers had a rough day with 4.1 innings, nine earned, 13 hits and two walks in the start.

In the starter slot for the Reds on Wednesday will be Nick Martinez. This year Martinez is 6-6 with a 3.25 ERA in 34 games (eight starts). In his career Martinez is 33-44 with a 4.17 ERA in 232 games (95 starts).

Toronto Blue Jays Betting Preview

Over on the Blue Jays’ side, they played the Chicago Cubs in their last set. Toronto lost the first pair but eked out a 1-0 win to stop the sweep Sunday. In Tuesday’s game the Jays put up 13 team hits in the victory. Jose Berrios managed 7.0 innings as starter with two earned runs.

Starter for the Blue Jays Wednesday will be Yariel Rodriguez. So far Rodriguez is 1-5 with a 3.93 ERA in the first 13 starts of his career.

Cincinnati Reds vs Toronto Blue Jays Prediction

I’ll take a stab on the Reds here. Should be a fun starter matchup regardless, though. Martinez is 1-1 in his last three starts with just three earned over 18.0 combined innings. As for Rodriguez, he’s coming off four earned in 5.0 innings during a no-decision but had just one earned in his previous 10.1 frames.

On Tuesday the Reds coughed up all 10 runs in the first five innings during a rough pitching performance from Spiers. The good news is that the pen was solid with 3.2 innings, no earned, no hits and no walks. Cincinnati needs a much better effort on both sides Wednesday, and Martinez should be able to start them off well.
