The Chicago Cubs will start Justin Steele here and Steele is 2-4 with a 3.08 ERA and 91 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Reds, Steele is 2-2 with a 3.71 ERA and 28 strikeouts. The Cincinnati Reds did not have a starter confirmed at the time that this article was posted.
Chicago Cubs Recap
The Chicago Cubs come into this one looking to rebound after starting the series with a 7-1 loss at the hands of the Reds in Monday’s matchup. The loss was an old habit coming back for the Cubs who were looking to build on a series win over the Royals from this past weekend.

Reds Trying To Pass Cubs In Standings
Elly De La Cruz leads the Reds with 103 hits, 18 home runs and 45 RBIs with 55 stolen bases along with a .263 batting average as well. Spencer Steer has a team-high 64 RBIs with 25 doubles and 17 stolen bases while Will Benson also has 16 doubles with 13 stolen bases but also has 126 strikeouts while De La Cruz has a team-high 138 strikeouts so far this season. - The underdogs have won six of the Cubs' last seven games.
- The Cubs have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six games as favorites against National League opponents.
- The underdogs have covered the run line in seven of the Cubs' last eight games.
Cubs vs. Reds Prediction
I’m leaning towards the Cubs here. I really liked it if it was Frankie Montas pitching for Cincinnati but he was dealt to Milwaukee on Monday. Either way, the Reds have stunk against lefties and Justin Steele’s been a quality start machine when it comes to his road starts. I think the Cubs can back Steele up here and exact some revenge in Tuesday’s matchup. Give me the Cubs.
