The New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals square off Thursday in MLB action from Kauffman Stadium. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a New York Yankees vs Kansas City Royals Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The New York Yankees will start Nestor Cortes here and Cortes is 3-5 with a 3.68 ERA and 78 strikeouts this season. In his career, Cortes is 2-1 with a 4.02 ERA and 13 strikeouts against Kansas City. New York Yankees Recap
The New York Yankees come into this one looking to complete the four-game sweep of the Royals after winning the series with an 11-5 win on Wednesday. The series win got the Yankees back on track after losing their series with the Dodgers last weekend ahead of a weekend set with the rival Boston Red Sox on deck.
Yankees Crushing It In This Series
Going into Wednesday’s matchup, Juan Soto leads the Yankees with 77 hits along with 11 doubles and 17 home runs with 53 RBIs to go along with a .316 batting average and .426 OBP. Aaron Judge has a team-high 25 home runs and 62 RBIs of his own along with a team-leading 21 doubles while also posting 73 strikeouts so far this season. Anthony Volpe’s added 77 hits with 6 home runs, 7 triples, 25 RBIs and a team-high 12 stolen bases as well this season. Giancarlo Stanton also has 16 home runs, 38 RBIs and 77 strikeouts this season.
Why the New York Yankees will win
- The Yankees have won each of their last 15 games against AL Central opponents.
- The Royals have lost seven of their last eight games against the Yankees following a home loss.
- The Yankees have covered the run line in each of their last 14 games against AL Central opponents.
- The Royals have failed to cover the run line in each of their last six home games following a loss.
- The Yankees have led after 5 innings in each of their last 14 games against AL Central opponents.
- The Yankees have led after 3 innings in each of their last 11 games against AL Central opponents that held a winning record.

Kansas City Royals Recap
The Kansas City Royals will try to salvage something from this set after another frustrating performance in Wednesday’s loss. The series loss for the Royals means that Kansas City will be unable to build on their series win over the Seattle Mariners from last weekend with a weekend road trip to Los Angeles up next to take on the Dodgers.
Royals Offense Starting To Stumble
Entering Wednesday, Bobby Witt Jr. leads the Royals with 88 hits including 11 home runs, 48 RBIs and team-highs of 7 triples and 18 doubles with 19 stolen bases. Salvador Perez also has 10 home runs with 42 RBIs and 15 doubles. Nelson Velazquez also has a team-high 58 strikeouts while Maikel Garcia has 5 home runs, 36 RBIs and 16 stolen bases along with 3 triples and 13 doubles this season. Vinnie Pasquantino has 18 doubles with 7 homers and 43 RBIs of his own on the year.
Why the Kansas City Royals will win
- The Yankees have lost five of their last six Thursday day games as road favorites against American League opponents.
- The Royals have won three of their last four Thursday games as underdogs.
- The Royals have covered the run line in each of their last four day games against American League opponents following a loss.
- The Yankees have failed to cover the run line in eight of their last 10 day games against American League opponents following a road win.
New York Yankees vs Kansas City Royals Prediction
I’m on the over here. This starting pitching matchup screams over, as Nestor Cortes has been far less effective on the road this season with a road ERA over six while Alec Marsh has fallen apart in his last three starts with a 7.41 ERA in that timeframe. The bullpens on both sides have also been far from perfect as well in recent games and I think there’s more runs to be had in Thursday’s finale. Give me the over here.
