The Marlins played the Cleveland Guardians over the weekend. Miami won the first game in that set 3-2, but then took losses 8-0 and 6-3 in the next pair. On Tuesday in the opener versus the Mets, the Marlins powered out a 4-2 victory. Starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo left after 5.2 innings, two earned, four hits and a walk.

As starter for the Marlins on Wednesday it’ll be Braxton Garrett. This year Garrett is 2-1 with a 5.81 ERA in five starts. He’s got 24 Ks in 26.1 innings. Garrett is 16-18 with a 4.02 ERA in 63 career games (61 starts).

New York Mets Betting Preview

Over on the Mets’ side, they traveled to London this past weekend to play the Philadelphia Phillies. New York lost 7-2 on Saturday but managed a draw with a 6-5 win on Sunday. In Tuesday’s matchup the Mets couldn’t score outside of the second inning. Tylor Megill lasted 4.2 innings as starter with two earned on four hits and two walks.

It’ll be David Peterson in the starting pitcher role for the Mets on Wednesday. In his two outings this year so far Peterson is 1-0 with a 3.09 ERA and five Ks in 11.2 innings. Peterson is 19-21 with a 4.47 ERA in 82 career games (66 starts).

Miami Marlins vs New York Mets Prediction

I’ll try the Marlins here. Garrett needs a bounce-back start, though. In his last outing Garrett took a loss versus the Rays with five earned in 2.2 innings. Prior to that however, Garrett had just one earned run in 14.0 innings. As for Peterson, he’s given up four earned runs in his first 11.2 innings so far.

On Tuesday the Marlins had a tepid five team hits but it was enough behind the solid pitching performance. Miami got 3.1 innings, no earned, no hits, one walk and four strikeouts from their bullpen. Another outing like that will set the Marlins up nicely.
