Sam Houston Bearkats Betting Preview
The Bearkats have only four games in the can so far this year, and they’re on the wrong side of the .500 mark after that quartet. Sam Houston opened up with a close 24-21 loss to Troy, then took another close loss 23-17 versus Tulsa in game two. The Bearkats got their first win of the year in game three though, taking out Nicholls by a blowout margin of 59-0.
Sam Houston fell back into the loss column in their last game back on September 26 versus Texas Tech. In that one the Bearkats managed a couple of touchdowns in the second quarter and were only down by seven points at the break. It turned into a 49-14 blowout defeat though. QB Landyn Locke was 23-of-37 for 195 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Liberty Flames Betting Preview
Over on the Liberty side, they’ve managed to play five games so far this year. The Flames got started with a loss though, falling in a tough one 20-13 versus James Madison in the opener. Liberty came back with a win over Gardner-Webb in game two, followed by a 51-15 win over Ball State. Game four was another win, this time 34-17 over Coastal Carolina.
Last Friday versus Delaware, Liberty got a couple field goals and a couple touchdowns in the first half and went into the locker room up 20-0. When the dust finally settled the Flames had a 30-14 victory. QB Deshawn Purdie went 13-of-20 for 157 yards but Kam Davis did most of the heavy lifting on offense with his 17 carries for 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Sam Houston vs Liberty Prediction
I’ll lean toward Sam Houston but it’s a coin flip to me. The Bearkats played pretty well against Texas Tech in the first half, all things considered. That said, Sam Houston ended up with just 11 first downs and a 5-of-16 success rate on third downs. The three interceptions didn’t help matters either. On defense Sam Houston gave up 470 yards but did have four takeaways.
As for Liberty, they managed 23 first downs and 282 rushing yards versus Delaware in their latest road win. The Flames gave up just 2-of-13 on third downs defensively with 16 first downs and two takeaways. I could easily see Liberty controlling this one but I think the Bearkats can get in there.
