Wright State Raiders Betting Preview
Wright State has had a choppy year overall, and as a result they’re still below the .500 mark. The Raiders kicked off the year on a 7-5 run then took losses to Youngstown State, Eastern Michigan and Cleveland State in the next three. Wright State would hit a 6-5 run from there with wins over Green Bay, Oakland, Northern Kentucky, Detroit, Robert Morris and IUPUI among losses to Robert Morris, Fort Wayne, Milwaukee, Youngstown State and Fort Wayne again. The next three were losses to Milwaukee, Green Bay and Northern Kentucky, giving the Raiders a 13-16 record through the first 29 games of the year.Â
In their latest matchup Thursday at home versus Cleveland State, the Raiders were down 45-31 at the break and things were looking grim. Wright State finished on a 51-31 second half however, powering out the comeback victory 82-76 in the end. Leading the way were Brandon Noel (nine rebounds; three assists) and Alex Huibregtse (three rebounds; three assists), each with 20 points. Solomon Callaghan added 14 points with two steals as well.Â
IUPUI Jaguars Betting Preview
Over on the Jaguars’ side, they’ve only been able to bag consecutive wins once this year during a pretty tough campaign. IUPUI opened on a 5-5 run, then fell to Northern Kentucky, Fort Wayne, Lindenwood, FIU, Milwaukee, Youngstown State and Cleveland State before another win over Detroit. A 3-8 run came next with wins over Green Bay, Youngstown State and Detroit. The losses otherwise were versus Oakland, Cleveland State, Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Milwaukee, Wright State, Oakland and Northern Kentucky. That would give the Jags a 9-20 overall record in their first 29 outings.Â
Matched up against Robert Morris on Thursday, the Jaguars were down by three points heading into the second half. IUPUI didn’t get any closer than that on a 48-37 run though, eventually falling 82-68 in the end. Leading the team in scoring were Sean Craig (seven rebounds) and Jarvis Walker (three rebounds; two assists), each with 17 points. Paul Zilinskas added 14 points and three assists during the defeat.Â

Wright State vs IUPUI PredictionÂ
I’ll probably lean toward Wright State, but I’m also probably avoiding this one. The Raiders started out fairly slowly in their latest win over Cleveland State but eventually shot 57.1 percent from both the field and from 3-point range (12-of-21). Wright State did cough up 12 turnovers for 13 Vikings points though, and got out-rebounded 29-19 along the way. Still, the much-needed win stops a three-game skid for the Raiders.Â
These teams last saw each other on February 8 in a home victory 91-73 for Wright State. In that one the Raiders got off to a great start with 51 first-half points and ended up shooting 63 percent from the field. Wright State also notched 9-of-15 (60 percent) from 3-point range and had a 36-27 rebounding advantage. IUPUI didn’t shoot so well on the other side (39.7 percent) and missed 10 of their 26 free throws (61.5 percent). Wright State should still have the advantage in the road rematch, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a better effort out of IUPUI.
