VCU Rams Betting Preview
This year the Rams opened up on a 6-4 run over their first 10 games. VCU took out Wagner, Saint Peter’s, Coppin State, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Samford in that time. The Rams would hit a win streak after that, taking out Niagara, American U, Rider, Saint Bonaventure and Duquesne in the next five outings. That would give VCU an 11-4 run over their first 15 outings of the year.
In Wednesday’s matchup with St. Louis, the Rams were already down by eight points 30-22 by halftime. VCU didn’t get any closer in the second half, posting a 41-40 deficit on the way to a loss 71-62 at home. Terrence Hill led the team with his 17 points and four rebounds while Lazar Djokovic doubled up on 11 points with 12 rebounds over 31 minutes during the losing effort for the Rams.
George Mason Patriots Betting Preview
Over on the George Mason side, they kicked off the season with a nice win streak over Wofford, Winthrop, Catawba, New Hampshire, Jacksonville, Ohio, Florida Atlantic, James Madison and Cornell. After a loss to Virginia Tech, the Patriots beat Old Dominion, Loyola MD, Penn, La Salle and Rhode Island in the next five games. Over 15 outings that would give George Mason a 14-1 record.
Matched up against Fordham this week, the Patriots were looking at a 28-23 deficit going into the locker room. George Mason woke up in the second half though, notching a 44-30 run for a comeback win 67-58. Riley Allenspach was the top team scorer on 18 points with five rebounds and Fatt Hill put up 11 points with six rebounds and two assists. Kory Mincy chipped in 10 points as well.

VCU vs George Mason Prediction
I’ll stick with George Mason. The Patriots started slowly in a road matchup versus a middling Fordham team this week but eventually stuck the landing in the victory. George Mason shot 47.9 percent from the field and 76.9 percent (20-of-26) from the line in that one, but also posted a miserable 1-of-11 (9.1 percent) from outside and a 40-31 rebounding deficit. Still, the nine turnovers and 40-26 advantage on points in the paint helped tip things in their favor. George Mason is sitting on a six-game win streak now, but they’ve been below 68 points in consecutive outings as well.
As for VCU, they mustered an ugly 28.6 percent shooting from the field and a 40-24 disadvantage on points in the paint against a good Saint Louis team this week in their latest loss. The Rams did a good job on the boards (40) and at the line (20-of-24 for 83.3 percent), however. The loss snaps a five-game win streak with 84 or more points scored in each. We could have a pretty big total here if both teams can get back to business on the scoreboard.
