The Lions have had a bumpy run so far this year with six games in the books. East Texas A&M opened with a blowout win 119-60 over Arlington Baptist, then fell 76-54 versus New Mexico in game two. Game three was another loss 100-74 versus Hawaii, which was followed by a 71-64 loss to Rice. The Lions got back into the win column last Wednesday versus Dallas Christian College, taking that one 115-44 to give the team a 2-3 record across their first five outings.

In their Monday matchup with Fairleigh Dickinson, the Lions were in trouble at the break with a 38-24 deficit. East Texas A&M surged in the second half however, bagging a 46-27 edge on the way to a comeback win 70-65. Leading the team in scoring was Gianni Hunt with 18 points, eight boards and six assists. Also in double-figures during the comeback effort for the Lions was Vinny Sigona with 11 points in 24 minutes of work on the floor.

Army Black Knights Betting Preview

Over on the Knights’ side, they’ve got six games in the books so far but only one win. That victory came in the opener versus SUNY Maritime by a score of 73-49. Game two was an 83-76 loss to St. Thomas MN, then came a 114-59 blowout loss to Duke. The Harvard game was another loss 75-52, as was game five versus Cornell 86-73. That would give Army a meager 1-4 run through their first five outings.

The losing streak continued back on Friday in Army’s most recent outing versus Marist. The Knights entered the second half with a 28-22 deficit and things got worse from there in an eventual 76-65 loss. Leading the team in scoring was Ryan Curry with 16 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Kevin McCarthy added 10 points with four rebounds in the losing effort as the only other team player to reach double-figures on points.

East Texas A&M vs Army Prediction

I’ll probably take a stab on Army here. There’s not a lot to get excited about with both teams struggling early on, though. I’m The Knights shot just 37.9 percent from the field in their loss to Marist, along with a 38-31 deficit on the boards and a 40-24 disadvantage on points in the paint. The good news is that Army wasn’t too bad from the line (77.8 percent on 14-of-18) and committed an acceptable 11 turnovers in the defeat. Army has been below 66 points in three of the last four games and they’re giving up quite a bit of scoring on defense as well.

As for East Texas A&M, they were in trouble against a struggling Fairleigh Dickinson team at halftime on Monday but to their credit the Lions fought back. East Texas A&M shot 43.3 percent from the field but got beaten pretty badly up front on a 35-23 rebounding deficit. The Lions can certainly compete in this one but they’ve got to play a lot better. I’m likely not touching this one, but it should be a fairly competitive matchup.
