We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best San Diego vs Pacific pick. We will examine the recent form and player performances for both teams, as well as the recent betting trends and streaks pertaining to this matchup. As we conclude, we will tie it all together with a summary that produces a sensible pick for a favorable betting outcome in this game.

San Diego Toreros Betting Preview

The Toreros opened on a nice 3-1 run this year, then hit a losing streak versus UC Riverside, Cal Baptist, Long Beach State, San Jose State and USC. After a 3-1 run that featured wins over Northern Arizona, UC San Diego and Pacific, the Toreros lost three straight versus Gonzaga, San Francisco and Santa Clara. Over the first 16 games of the year San Diego managed a 6-10 record.

On Thursday versus Pepperdine, the Toreros didn’t have a whole lot of issues on their way to an 83-63 home victory. Leading the scoring in the win was Adrian McIntyre with 16 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals. Ty-Laur Johnson added 14 points, 10 assists, four steals and five rebounds during the winning effort for San Diego as well.

Pacific Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Pacific side, they kicked off their season on a very nice 7-2 run. The only losses during that time were versus Nevada and Florida Atlantic. The Tigers would hit a 4-4 run after that with wins over Simpson University CA, Nicholls, Oregon State and Pepperdine alongside losses to Cal, BYU, San Diego and Loyola Marymount. In the first 17 games Pacific held an 11-6 record overall.

Matched up against Portland on Thursday, the Tigers were in trouble at halftime on a 45-34 deficit. Pacific fought back with 38 points from there and forced overtime but eventually lost 90-89 in the end. The Tigers’ leading scorer was Justin Rochelin with 20 points and eight rebounds. Isaac Jack added 18 points with six rebounds and one assist in 21 minutes of work in the loss as well.

San Diego vs Pacific Prediction

I’ll stay with Pacific. The Tigers are coming off a tough road loss to a middling Portland team this week, shooting 43.9 percent from the field with 32 rebounds and a 36-30 advantage on points in the paint. The Pilots shot 47 percent from the field on the other side and hit 13-of-23 (56.5 percent) from outside. Pacific is still 2-1 in their last three however, and they’ve got 71 or more points in four straight games.

These teams last met up fairly recently, in a December 28 game at Jenny Craig Pavilion. San Diego posted a 66-54 win in that one despite shooting just 36 percent from the field with a 39-27 rebounding deficit. Pacific went just 4-of-22 (18 percent) from 3-point ranged and had a whopping 21 turnovers leading to 25 Toreros points. If the Tigers can clean up their act in the rematch, I think they’ll be okay cover-wise and get some revenge.

Andrew Jett's Pick: Pacific Tigers -7.5
