Samford vs UNLV Prediction
I’ll lean toward UNLV in this one but I’m probably not touching it. The Rebels played pretty well overall in their win over Northern Arizona this week, notching 48 percent from the field, 38 percent (8-of-21) from 3-point range and 72 percent (23-of-32) from the line. UNLV had a 37-26 rebounding edge but did fall behind by 12 points at one spot in the game and gave up a ton on defense. The Rebels surrendered 52 percent from the field and 48 percent (11-of-23) from outside to Northern Arizona, so they’re going to have to tighten the screws on defense for game two.
As for Samford, they had the most routine of routine matchups in their opener against Berry this week. The Bulldogs didn’t have any issues in that one, posting a scorching 59 percent from the field and 94 percent (16-of-17) from the line. Samford had only seven turnovers and held the opposition to just 34 percent shooting from the floor. It was a nice win, and Samford did what they were supposed to do. That said, the competition level will kick up drastically for game two and I don’t think the Bulldogs will keep pace cover-wise.

UNLV Runnin’ Rebels Betting Preview
Over on the UNLV side, they had something of a middling campaign in 2025-26. The Rebels managed to go a tepid 18-17 overall with an 11-9 run in the Mountain West. That finish would put UNLV ahead of only Wyoming, Fresno State, San Jose State and Air Force in the conference standings.
