The New Haven Chargers and the UConn Huskies meet Monday in college basketball action from the Gampel Pavilion. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a New Haven Chargers vs. UConn Huskies prediction.
New Haven Chargers Recap
The New Haven Chargers come into the 2025-26 season in their first foray at the D-I level. The Chargers went 12-17 including 7-13 in NE10 conference play, finishing in 8th place. The Chargers would be bounced by Saint Michael’s in the first round of that year’s NE10 tournament. Najimi George is back as the main cog from last year’s New Haven team after logging 8.1 PPG and 3.2 RPG, and Ted Hotaling will hope to get something out of a pair of D-II transfers in Jabri Fitzpatrick (19.9 PPG, 6.6 RPG, 3.1 APG in 2024-25) and Maison Adeleye (12 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 2.8 APG). It’ll likely be exciting for New Haven to be at the D-I level, but it’s going to be a long time before the Chargers compete at this level as well.
UConn Huskies Recap
The UConn Huskies come into the 2025-26 season looking to build on a decent 2024-25 season, finishing 24-11 on the year including a 14-6 mark in Big East conference play. UConn would knock off Villanova in the quarterfinals of the Big East tournament before falling to Creighton in the Big East tournament semis. The Huskies would get invited to the NCAA Tournament where they’d take down Oklahoma before being edged out by the eventual champion Florida Gators. The Huskies have a fair amount of talent returning, including Solo Ball (14.4 PPG, 3.6 RPG) and Alex Karaban (14.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG) and Tarris Reed Jr. (9.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG) but also have Silas Demary Jr. who had 13.5 PPG, 3.9 RPG and 3.1 APG at Georgia last season. I think this is a get back season for UConn after what was a frustrating year, and while losing Liam McNeeley and Aidan Mahaney stinks, UConn’s got more than enough pieces to resolve and get back to business.

New Haven Chargers vs. UConn Huskies Prediction
I’m on UConn here. It’s a massive number with the Huskies and for good reason, but the Huskies crush in paycheck games to begin with, and New Haven was a team that got beat up in D-II last season. There are much bigger fish to fry for UConn but that’s never stopped the Huskies from running it up. Give me UConn laying the wood in a dismantling and a welcome to New Haven.
