Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers Betting Preview
Mount St. Mary’s had a rough run going back in January, but aside from that they haven’t done too badly overall in the record column. The Mountaineers went 11-5 over their first 16 games, losing to only Maryland, Georgetown, Maris, Loyola MD, and George Mason. A 2-5 run came next with wins over Merrimack and St. Peter’s amid losses to Rider, Quinnipiac, Siena, Manhattan, and Iona. Since then it’s been a 5-1 run with a lone loss to Fairfield. In those six the victories came versus Niagara, Canisius, Saint Peter’s, Rider, and Siena otherwise. That gives the Mountaineers an 18-11 overall record across their first 29 outings so far this year.
In the Siena game on Sunday, the Mountaineers kicked things off with a two-point halftime edge. Mount St. Mary’s hit a 48-44 run the rest of the way and powered out the victory 85-79 in the end. Tops in scoring was Dola Adebayo with 22 points and 13 rebounds in 28 minutes for a double-double. Dallas Hobbs added 17 points with six boards and six assists, while both Carmelo Pacheco (four rebounds; four assists) and Jedy Cordilia (four rebounds) each had 15 points in the win.
Quinnipiac Bobcats Betting Preview
Over on the Quinnipiac side, they were below .500 in early January but they’ve gotten much better since then. The Bobcats opened up on a shaky 7-8 run over their first 15 games of the year. Quinnipiac would then beat Siena, Iona, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary’s, Rider, and Fairfield before losses to Siena and Niagara (and a win over Canisius) in the next three games. After wins over Sacred Heart, Iona, Manhattan, and Saint Peter’s in the next four, the Bobcats lost to Merrimack over the weekend. That gives Quinnipiac an 18-11 record as well through their first 29 games of the season.
Matched up against Merrimack on Sunday, the Bobcats came into the locker room with a 30-27 halftime deficit. Quinnipiac closed on a 43-36 run from there, not getting closer in a 73-63 loss. Jaden Zimmerman was the team’s leading scorer in the defeat with 22 points and two rebounds. Paul Otieno managed to double up with 20 points and 11 boards, while Amarri Monroe added 16 rebounds with four assists and six points.
Why the Quinnipiac Bobcats will win

Why the Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers will win
- Mount St. Mary’s has won five of its last six games against the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
- Mount St. Mary’s has won the first half in four of its last five road games against non-AP-ranked opponents.
Mount St. Mary’s vs Quinnipiac Prediction
I’ll lean toward Quinnipiac. The Bobcats do need a good bounce-back here following a listless loss to a middling Merrimack team, though. In that one Quinnipiac shot 45.1 percent from the field with a 37-25 rebounding edge. That said, the Bobcats were very sloppy with the ball on a whopping 21 turnovers for 21 Warriors points. The loss halts a four-game win streak with 69 or more points scored in each outing.
Quinnipiac took a 91-57 blowout road win the last time these teams saw each other back on January 18. The Bobcats shot 51.6 percent from the field in that one with 39 rebounds, but I don’t expect this home rematch to be so lopsided. Still, Quinnipiac should be in control if they can recover from their weekend loss sufficiently.
