Monmouth Hawks Betting Preview
The Hawks managed to go just 5-7 over their first dozen outings of the season. Monmouth would then hit a 3-1 run with victories over Lehigh, Towson and William & Mary, though. After that came a 3-4 stretch featuring losses to Hofstra, Drexel, Hampton and Hofstra again across the next seven outings. In 23 games so far this season that gives the Seawolves an 11-12 overall record.
In the Hofstra game last weekend the Hawks entered the second half sporting a 37-33 deficit. Monmouth was outscored 36-24 the rest of the way in a 73-57 loss in the end at home. Leading the team in scoring during the losing effort was Justin Ray with 15 points and three rebounds. Cornelius Robinson added 14 points with three rebounds and two assists as well.
Stony Brook Seawolves Betting Preview
Over on the Seawolves’ side, they did a pretty good job over their first 11 games this year, sporting an 8-3 record in that time. Stony Brook hit the skids on a 1-6 run from there featuring a lone win over North Carolina A&T. The last five games have all been victories though, as the Seawolves have beaten Hofstra, Charleston, Northeastern, Campbell and Elon for a 14-9 record so far.
In the Elon matchup back on Saturday the Seawolves were looking pretty good as the entered the second half sporting a 48-36 edge. Stony Brook was outscored 32-24 the rest of the way but still managed to hang on for the win on the road 72-68. Both Rob Brown (two rebounds) and Andrej Shoshkikj (eight rebounds; four assists) led the way with 17 points apiece.

Monmouth vs Stony Brook Prediction
I’ll lean toward Stony Brook. That said, this should be a pretty good matchup. The Seawolves slowed down quite a bit in the second half of their road win over Elon last weekend, eventually shooting just 36.1 percent from the field with a 32-14 deficit on points in the paint and 13 turnovers. It was still Stony Brook’s fifth straight win though, and they’ve scored 72 or more points in all of those victories.
As for Monmouth, they shot just 38.3 percent from the field and 16.7 percent (3-of-18) from 3-point range in their latest home loss to Hofstra. The Hawks were out-muscled on the boards 34-21 as well. Monmouth has still won three of their last five games, with 81 or more points scored in each of the three wins. We should have a pretty good total here if both teams can stay on point.
