I’ll take a stab on UMass, but it’s a coin flip. The Minutemen shot very well from the field (57.4 percent) and 3-point range (45.8 percent on 11-of-24) in their loss to Akron. The problems were the 30-22 rebounding deficit and the 15 turnovers—not to mention the 46.3 percent shooting allowed on defense. UMass has lost consecutive games now, but both of those were on the road and both were pretty close.

These teams last met up back on January 27 in a pretty tight 86-84 home loss for UMass. In that one the Minutemen shot well also (50.8 percent) with a 33-29 rebounding edge and a 34-26 advantage in the paint. Miami-OH won the game mostly thanks to a 28-of-38 (73.7 percent) performance at the line; UMass had 28 fouls to the RedHawks’ 16 fouls. I like the Minutemen to stay competitive in this one as well, benefitting from a home lift.
