Merrimack vs Albany Prediction
I’ll take Albany here but there’s not a ton to get excited about. The Danes have been doing well after two games so far but they haven’t exactly faced elite competition. Albany beat Rhode Island College in their first game, shooting 45 percent from the field with a 47-40 rebounding edge and 13 turnovers. The Danes held the opposition to 39 percent shooting and benefitted from a rough 37 percent (7-of-19) from the line by Rhode Island College. Game two was a tight four-point road win over Manhattan. In that one the Danes shot 41 percent with a 37-36 edge in rebounding and never trailed throughout the game.
As for Merrimack, they’ve got two losses in the bank through two games. The Warriors fell to App State by 14 in their opener, shooting just 35 percent from the field, 28 percent (5-of-18) from outside and 50 percent (6-of-12) from the free throw line. Merrimack added a 42-30 rebounding deficit and didn’t hold a lead at any point in the game. In their second outing the Warriors fell by 10 to UMass Lowell, shooting an abysmal 13 percent (3-of-24) from outside and 8-of-20 (40 percent) from the line along with 13 turnovers and a 40-38 rebounding deficit. Merrimack is looking like they’ll struggle this year, and I don’t think they’ve got enough offensive firepower to cover here.
