I’ll lean toward Memphis but I’m probably staying away. The Tigers lost a home game versus a pretty good Wichita State team on Thursday despite hitting 51.6 percent from the field with just six turnovers. Memphis got outmuscled on the boards 43-26 along the way and had a 44-32 deficit on points in the paint. The Tigers have lost five straight games now, giving up 76 or more in every one of them.

As for East Carolina, they were able to eke out a win versus a struggling UTSA team this week despite a slow start. The Pirates ended up shooting 50 percent from the field in that one with a 28-24 rebounding advantage but did have 13 turnovers. The 57.4 percent shooting allowed on defense didn’t help matters, either. ECU is 1-2 in their last three games, but two of those were very close finishes.
