Loyola MD Greyhounds Betting Preview
Loyola has had a pretty tough year, and they’ve been unable to win more than two consecutive games so far. The Greyhounds kicked things off on a 5-7 run with losses to Columbia, VCU, Boston College, Delaware State, Hampton, DePaul and Holy Cross. After a 3-2 run that featured wins over Navy and Lehigh (twice), Loyola lost to Lafayette, Holy Cross and Bucknell in succession. After wins over Boston U and Lafayette, the Greyhounds are 1-5 in their last six with a lone win over Colgate. Otherwise it’s been losses to Colgate, Army, American, Boston U and Bucknell in that time, giving the Greyhounds an 11-17 overall run through 28 games.Â
In the Bucknell home matchup on Wednesday, the Greyhounds came out of the first half with a three-point edge 40-37. Loyola was outscored 33-27 the rest of the way however, resulting in a 70-67 loss in the end. Milos Ilic was the top scorer in the defeat with 21 points, six boards and two assists. Jacob Theodosiou added 17 points with four rebounds, two assists and four steals in 37 minutes of work on the floor.Â
Navy Midshipmen Betting Preview
Over on the Navy side, they’ve had quite the difficult campaign as well this season. The Midshipmen began with an ugly skid, going just 3-10 over their first 13 outings. Those wins were over only Harvard, Washington College MD and Penn. After wins over American U and Lafayette, the Midshipmen lost to Holy Cross, Loyola MD, Colgate and Bucknell. Since then it’s been a 7-4 stretch with losses to Bucknell, Boston U, Lafayette and Colgate. The wins otherwise were over Boston U, Army, Lehigh (twice), Army, Holy Cross and American U. In total that gives the Midshipmen a 12-18 record across 30 games this season.Â
In their matchup with American U on Wednesday, the Midshipmen held a three-point lead by halftime. Navy closed on a 38-33 run and took the win in the end 68-60 on the road. Topping the team in scoring was Jordan Pennick with 22 points, five boards and two assists. Mike Woods came off the bench for 12 points and two rebounds in 14 minutes, while Austin Benigni chipped in with 11 points, three boards and two assists in 36 minutes.Â

Loyola MD vs Navy PredictionÂ
I’ll stay with Navy. There’s not a lot to get excited about here if you’re not a fan of either team, but it should be a competitive game at least. The Midshipmen took out a decent American team in a road matchup this week, shooting 46.7 percent from the field with a dominant 40-28 rebounding edge. The 14 turnovers for 14 Eagles points were just about the only major blemish. That gives Navy a 4-1 run over their last five outings, with 68 or more points scored in three straight.Â
The Midshipmen took a 75-74 road loss the last time these teams met up back on January 11. Navy has been playing better lately though, and Loyola MD has scored below 69 points in all five losses of their current 1-5 run. I like the Midshipmen to get some revenge on Saturday.Â
