Long Beach State Beach Betting Preview
The Beach had a nice run going back in December, but aside from that the wins have been few and far between this season. Long Beach State opened on a 1-8 run with losses to South Dakota State, San Francisco, Portland, Gonzaga, Fresno State, UNC Greensboro, UTEP, and San Jose State. A win streak came next over Cal State Fullerton, Hawaii, San Diego, Pepperdine, and La Sierra, then a 1-4 run. The lone win in that time was versus UC Davis, while the losses otherwise came to UC Riverside, Cal State Bakersfield, UC San Diego, and Cal State Fullerton. The result was a 7-12 overall record through the first 19 games of the season so far.
In the Cal State Fullerton game over the weekend, the Beach entered the second half holding a 40-29 deficit. Long Beach State was outscored 43-38 from there and limped to an 83-67 defeat in the end. Leading the team in scoring during the loss with an impressive 31 points in 31 minutes off the bench was TJ Wainwright, who also notched three steals. Devin Askew led the starters with 11 points with five boards and two assists.
CSU Northridge Matadors Betting Preview
Over on the Cal State Northridge side, they entered the year with a nice run, then had a spotty stretch in December before righting the ship again. The Matadors won five of their first six outings versus Le Moyne, Nobel, Sac State, Utah Tech, and Denver. A 2-3 run commenced afterward, featuring wins over Montana State and Cal Poly among losses to Montana, UC Riverside, and USC. Since then Cal State Northridge is 5-2 with losses to UC Irvine and Cal State Bakersfield among wins over Chicago State, La Sierra, Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis, and Hawaii otherwise for a 12-6 overall record through the first 18 games for the Matadors.
Matched up against Hawaii back on January 16, the Matadors were up 38-29 going into the second half. Cal State Northridge kept it up from there on a 45-31 run and took the blowout victory 83-60 in the end. Scotty Washington led the team with 24 points and three rebounds. Marcus Adams added 18 points with three blocks, while Keonte Jones doubled up on 12 points and 12 boards in 33 minutes of action.

Long Beach State vs Cal State Northridge Prediction
I’m going to stay with CSUN. The Matadors have been off the court for a week following their lengthy road trip out to visit Hawaii. Cal State Northridge did well in that win, shooting 53.3 percent from the field with a 40-25 rebounding edge. The free throw shooting (11-of-19 for 57.9 percent) and 11 turnovers were the only blemishes. It was a much-needed strong defensive performance following a combined 171 points surrendered over CSUN’s previous two games (both losses).
As for Long Beach State, they haven’t been able to get their offense going during this 1-4 stretch. The Beach have notched fewer than 68 points during all four losses of that run. Cal State Northridge should be able to control this one fairly easily if they’re not rusty after the weeklong layoff.
