The Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida Gators will meet on Friday afternoon in an SEC Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview

The Kentucky Wildcats enter Friday’s contest with a 21–12 win-loss record, including a 10-8 mark in conference play and a 4-6 record on the road. Kentucky has compiled wins over Nicholls State, Valparaiso, Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech, while dropping games to Louisville, Gonzaga, Alabama and the Michigan State Spartans.

Earlier this season, in the Kentucky Wildcats convincing 104–54 victory over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles last month, Kentucky forward Trent Noah tallied 16 points and 5 rebounds illustrating his ability to be a presence in the paint.

The Kentucky Wildcats are averaging 81.4 points (48th in country) on 46.7 percent shooting from the field and 34.6 percent shooting from the three‑point line per game. The Wildcats are allowing opponents 74 points per game.

Senior guard Denzel Aberdeen has been a solid contributor for the Wildcats averaging 13 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Senior guard Otega Oweh is averaging 18.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. Freshman center Malachi Moreno provides the Wildcats with a strong interior presence averaging 8.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Florida Gators Betting Preview

The Florida Gators enter Friday afternoon’s game with a 25–6 overall record, including a rather impressive 16–2 mark in conference play and an 8-2 record on the road. The Gators have amassed wins over Miami, Florida State, North Florida, Merrimack and the Georgia Bulldogs while dropping games Arizona, Missouri and the Duke Blue Devils.

In the Florida Gators 82-68 win over the Miami Hurricanes earlier this season, Florida forward Malik Reneau compiled 22 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks showcasing his ability to lead the Gators frontcourt.

The Florida Gators average 87.7 points (7th in country) on 48.2 percent shooting from the field (33rd in nation) and 31.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc per game. Defensively, the Gators are allowing opponents 71.7 points per contest. In my opinion, Florida’s size, rebounding and quality defense have been the key factors to the team’s overall success this season.

Sophomore guard Boogie Fland is averaging 11.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Junior forward Thomas Haugh contributes 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal a contest. Junior center Rueben Chinyelu provides the Gators with further frontcourt depth averaging 11.4 points, 11.7 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per contest, while senior guard Xaivian Lee is averaging with 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

Why the Kentucky Wildcats Will Win

• Balanced scoring. Denzell Aberdeen and Otega Oweh combine for over 31 points per game.

• Interior presence. Freshman center Malachi Moreno is averaging 8.1 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

Why the Florida Gators Will Win

• Offensive edge. The Florida Gators average 87.7 points (7th in country) on 48.2 percent shooting from the field (33rd in nation) and 31.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc per game.

• Balanced scoring: The Gators have five players scoring over 11 points a game.

• Momentum. The Florida Gators arrive at tomorrow’s contest on an 11-game winning streak.

• Confidence. The Florida Gators defeated the Kentucky Wildcats twice in the regular season.

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Florida Gators Prediction

In my view, the Florida’s stability on both ends of the floor give the Gators a clear path to separation against a Kentucky team that has struggled defensively all season. Kentucky’s offense has the potential to keep the Wildcats competitive, but the team’s defensive lapses are concerning in a tournament setting. Additionally, let us not forget that the Gators defeated the Kentucky Wildcats twice in the regular season. For the reasons just noted, I am backing the Florida Gators plus the 10.5 points in this game.

Hans Geevers's Pick: Florida -10.5
