Holy Cross Crusaders Betting Preview
The Crusaders limped to a 1-6 start this year, but then hit wins over Worcester State, Northeastern, Fordham and Regis in the next four. A 1-4 run came next with a lone win over Bucknell, then wins over American and Army. After three more losses to Lafayette, Navy and American, the Crusaders were sitting at 8-13 overall through their first 21 games this year.
In the Wednesday matchup versus Colgate, the Crusaders were down 35-33 by the end of the first half. Holy Cross didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 44-41 run from there and ended up losing 79-74 on the road as the game came to a finish. Tyler Boston put up 20 points with five assists and four rebounds while both DeAndre Williams (six rebounds) and Gabe Warren (three rebounds) each had 13 points.
Army Black Knights Betting Preview
Over on the Army side, they won their first game of the season then hit losses in each of the next six. A 6-1 run came after that, featuring a lone loss to George Washington. The Black Knights would then lose to Colgate, Loyola Maryland, Boston U, Holy Cross, American and Navy (with a win over Bucknell) in the next seven games, giving the team an 8-13 run in their first 21 outings.
On Wednesday versus Lehigh, Army jumped out to a five-point lead 34-29 by the end of the first half. The Black Knights were outscored 35-33 the rest of the way but still managed to hang on for a 67-64 win at home in the end. Holy Cross vs Army Prediction
I’ll lean toward Holy Cross I suppose. Probably not touching it, though. The Crusaders are coming off a road loss to a pretty decent Colgate squad this week, despite shooting a nice 54.4 percent from the field with just seven turnovers. Holy Cross was out-rebounded 35-27 and missed half their free throws (5-of-10) while giving up 48.4 percent shooting on the other side. That makes four straight losses for the Crusaders, who have given up 74 or more points in each of those.
These teams last met up back on January 14 in an 82-75 home win for the Crusaders. In that one Holy Cross shot very well: 48.2 percent from the field, 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from outside and 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the line. That said, the Crusaders got out-rebounded 35-29 and had a 38-20 deficit on points in the paint. They’ll need to keep that shooting percentage elevated in the road rematch.
